Synthroid users--question for you
What happens if you take your Synthroid, and then get sick less than an hour later?
This morning, I did my normal morning routine--up at 5:45, took my pill first thing, took my shower, began to get dressed...and then the MS hit me at 6:25. I am so afraid that the Synthroid didn't have a chance to get into my system.
I know how important it is to get that thyroid hormone, especially now. Do you think I'm ok? I'm a little worried.

They test your thyroid more during pregnancy. I wouldn't worry so much about it. I know if u miss it you can double up but I wouldn't b/c u don't know if it did get into your bloodstream or not yet!

Re: Synthroid users--question for you
I have my levels tested about once per month anyway, as I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's when I was 19.
I'm just concerned about the Synthroid absorbing before I hurl it up.

Re: Synthroid users--question for you
Aww. Synthroid is a teeny little guy. I'm sure some, if not all of the hormone got into your bloodstream before you got sick. Definitely stay on top of your levels. They'll probably increase it at your next check. My first 3 months being pregnant, my levels were SO off wack that I lost a hUGE patch of hair on my crown of my head. It's now growing back but it's platinum blond
On another note, speak to your OB about Zofran for the MS. It's a miracle drug I tell ya!!!

Re: Synthroid users--question for you
I take synthroid everyday, don't worry about it, it would've gone into your bloodstream definately within 20 minutes, but either way you should be fine.

I wouldn't worry about it. Our general rule in pharmacy is if you vomit within 15 minutes of taking something. I have missed Synthroid and my levels are still good. I just plain old forget sometimes.

I don't think you are supposed to double up.
Synthroid is a medication that takes time to build up into your system. The fact that you got sick about an hour after you took it one day, is not going to make your levels plummet in one day.
I too have Hashimoto's and I am tested every 6 weeks. My endo told me not to stress if I get sick after one dose. If you it continues to happen than you might want to talk to your endo about a new routine.
Feel better.

Re: Synthroid users--question for you
When I was pg and had MS I waited until after I threw up to take my synthroid. If you normally get sick that is what I would do.

Re: Synthroid users--question for you
A tip that helped me, and I still follow- take all pills at bedtime. It is the only way that I have survived.
I actually just got a call from my OB, from my last blood test, they had to up my Synthroid dose- a lot.
Make sure to get yours tested every trimester.
