Taking a newborn out...would you?

Considering it's still VERY warm down here and we'll have family in town, I kind of don't want to miss out on some of the stuff they may be doing.

Do you think it'd be ok to take the newborn out to a small street festival (you know the ones with the booths for all sorts of stuff). It's really close to home.

We did it last year and we were done in an hour.

I think so - I'm sure the baby would just be sleeping the stroller the whole time anyway!

Absolutely! Chat Icon

I took my newborn out all the time. As long as you're not passing him around and/or that children aren't touching him... you'll be fine. Chat Icon

Go have fun!

I did. I just made sure she was covered up in the infant carrier.

i think so as long as no one touches the baby or washes their hands before touching the baby.

I carry Purell in my diaper bag. I am a neurotic mom.

Yes,,,,,I took the babies out the day we got home from the hospital. The only thing is that I put the netting over the carriage to disuade people from touching.

I would definitely go. She'll be in a carrier in the stroller with the shade. Seems harmless to me.

I totally would. I don't think that people try to touch small babies, just pull the shade down on the stroller!

I brought my kids out early, just didn't let strangers touch them, and they were born early.

absolutely. DS has been out from the first day he was home. i didn't let strangers touch or hold him, but friends and family could hold him all they wanted.

Re: Taking a newborn out...would you?

When DS was a week and a half old we took him to a Mardi Gras family day. He stayed in the stoller and no one touched him. He slept and we were there for about 1 hour and a half. He was fine

I would keep the baby covered and not do it at the hottest time of the day. You don't want the baby to overheat.

I was going to suggest the netting as well. It's kinda like a force field. LOL People see that & they won't go to close.
