Teachers when did you tell..

your students?

I teach 8th grade. I'm only 7 1/2 weeks. I told my AP the other day and my coteachers in my special ed classes know.

Just curious if you all told or just waited until you starting showing and it was obvious.

Re: Teachers when did you tell..

I'm thinking of waiting till it's more obvious. I only told my principal and one teacher friend. I'm 12 weeks now so I'm hoping at least till after Feb break . I'll be 14 weeks right before it starts.
I've been overly cautious so far so I'm more comfortable waiting, but do what feels right for you Chat Icon

I waited until almost 13 weeks, after I had my Level 1 scan.

I didn't tell my principal until 13 weeks. Although I thought it was up to me when I told my students..it wasn't. Principal made me wait until I was noticeably showing, which was at 20 weeks.

Re: Teachers when did you tell..

I told my principal at 8 weeks because I needed so much help setting up my room.

I told my students at 16 weeks. I was starting to get a belly and I kept rubbing it Chat Icon

I plan on telling my Principal at 12 weeks. I think I will tell my students around then as well.

I told my students at 15 weeks, but not because I was showing. We were going on a field trip that week and we would be going on a hayride. I didn't want to lie to them that my back hurt, so I just told them the truth. Chat Icon

Re: Teachers when did you tell..

When I was pregnant, I wanted to wait longer to tell but my students GUESSED .. yes.. GUESSED at 9wks! One literally just raised her hand and asked. I had fertility treatments and was verrrry bloated. That's basically how they knew. I looked larger at 9wks than I did at 14wks because of all the bloat from the progesterone I was taking.

Anyway.. I didn't want to deny it so I 'came out' at 9wks... however, next time I will be waiting as long as possible and WILL deny if asked before 12wks! I don't think anyone will be asking this time though....

I work with elementary school kids so I waited until about 15 weeks to tell them because I didn't they would handle it well if god forbid something bad had happened. They were so excited and some of them even started to cry! So cute!

Re: Teachers when did you tell..

I told my Principal and AP around 9 weeks b/c I had to keep leaving early for doctor's appt's. I didn't tell my co-workers until 13 weeks. I'm 17.5 weeks now and still haven't told my students. I teach elementary age students and want to wait until I"m showing to tell them. I'm thinking that after February break I will let them know (I'll be 21 weeks at that point). I want to wait until I am showing and I definitely am not yet. I think they will understand and be able to process it if I'm showing. So I'll wait a few more weeks.

Re: Teachers when did you tell..

I told my principal at 13 weeks and I am almost 18 weeks now and I haven't told my students. I teach 9, 11, and 8.... I'm surprised they haven't asked yet though because I do have a little belly.. I'll probably tell them next week- unless they ask me sooner lol.
