I think 18 is too young to make that decision.
I knew that even after high school...I was still "growing" a bit. In fact, I wasn't truly happy with my body until 23. That's when I started working out and gaining confidence in myself.
Of course these girls don't have self confidence at 18...what girl does with all these false images of what they're "supposted" to look like on magazine covers?

a LOT of parents these days are giving for HS graduation presents--breast implants to their daughters. i dunno how i feel about that---i mean it just seems like a bit much for someone who is young and their body is going to continue to change a bit up until about 20-21.

I went to an "esteemed" all-girls HS and it was actually "common" to get a boob job/nose job/lipo, etc. for your SWEET 16...in addition to a BMW/Benz...

I think the minimum should be 21.
Any younger than that parental consent should be required.

Sometimes when a person has money, it's easier to throw money at the problem than to take the time to find solutions to the real issues.

hahahah I didn't grow breasts until I was in college and I REALLY didn't grow breasts until I was 25 (after the birth of my son...)

I think it's not something I would pay for my daughter to do at all, let alone when she's that young. It's a very personal decision to have augmentation surgery, and as such, it can wait until she's no longer a minor and is able to not only make the decision without my permission, but pay for it herself.

I understand some teens who want to have that done, it's all self-image and self-esteem issues with trying to look your best and keep up with what society tells us women are supposed to look like.
What I don't understand are the parents that allow their teens to have such procedures done. It's really a shame, I wish they'd wake up and realize the damage that they're causing their daughters.

Shouldn't we be encouraging our teen to love themselves and thier bodies? No? Okay lets add to their self esteem issues by telling them "You're right your breasts are too small and your nose is horrid"

DO I think an 18 yo or even younger should get augmentation? Personally, no. But I think an 18 yo is capable of making that decision for themselves. If at 18 it's okay for them to make the decision of choosing a president or fight in a war but we do not have faith in their decision to have elective surgery to increase their boob size, we have many more problems as a country ahead of us.
And to add...for those parents paying for the surgery at 16 as a gift...shame on them!!!

I think it depends on the situation. I had a friend who got one done at 18... but she was extremely lopsided (A cup on one side, D on the other). She wanted to get it done before college when she had to deal with roommates, etc. noticing her 'lamb chop' (prosthetic).
In her case I see no problem with it.

Yes good point and I totally agree. In this case I can totally understand. The girls that "just want to look better in clothes" is another story.

I can understand the nose - its not like your face is really growing anymore and really, a bad nose can destroy a girl's self esteem - I just don't agree with boobs though - its like parents are helping their daughters be sexier!!!

Sorry ladies, but im going to disagree with the majority here. Under 18, I think they shouldnt be doing it at all. Once they turn 18 -- they're adults. They can vote, go to war, get a tatoo, etc. They should be allowed to make any other decision relating to their bodies that they choose. I dont believe they're too young to make a decision like this. I think some of us underestimate the intelligence of an 18 year old. They're not 12.
And for those that argue that your breasts dont stop growing til you're 21 or 22....Lets get real here. You're breasts NEVER STOP changing. Throughout your whole life they will change....before kids, after kids, if you gain or loose weight. Your body changes and so do your breasts.

i went from an A/B cup in HS to a C cup after going on the pill senior year of HS because of ovarian cysts (before i needed it for other reasons) 
i think 1/2 of my friends had nose jobs but none of my close friends got their boobs done.
