Re: teething biscuits???? when can you give them?
You have to be careful with them....they're not really recommended anymore as they can be a choking hazard. But I think as long he's closely watched when he eats them it's fine. But if he has teeth, he's ready for things he can chew if you're ready. Have you tried any puffs or cheerios? DS was a big fan of Baby Mum-Mums. They're organic rice crackers that they can bite, but they dissolve in their mouths so they're not as apt to choke on them.

I was just going to say this. I had to buy dairy free and a huge piece broke off in Declan's mouth. I had to take it out so he wouldn't choke. I second Baby Mum mum

Re: teething biscuits???? when can you give them?
what is the point of puffs? and what are baby mum mums?
I THINK I'd be ok giving him cheerios ( ) but I think I hate puffs. I've seen them sprinkled in front of some kids I know very liberally and it's almost like they are a food group.
are they supposed to replace meals? cuz that's what I've seen of them so far.
are they supposed to be used as pacifiers? I've seen that too.
but I'd like to know more.
thanks.

I started puffs with Jack at 6 months. He didn't take to them. I gave them to him again at 7 months and he got it. I didn't give him the entire puff at first. I would cut it into pieces. They are like air so it's really something for them to practice chewing on.
I also gave Jack the teething biscuits but like the others said, they made me too nervous when a big piece broke off. I won't be giving them to Tyler.

but when did you give them to him? honestly, my SIL gave them to my niece to the point where she didnt' want real food so that turned me off to them.
but if they could be useful I don't want to rule them out.

Re: teething biscuits???? when can you give them?
I never gave teething biscuts - my ped didn't recommend them because they are a choking hazzard.
I did give her at 6 months Baby Mum Mums. They are rice crackers that disolve in their mouth, but they can still "chew" on them.
Now at 14.5 months old, I will give DD a teething biscut, I just hate them with a passion though because they are SO messy and like concrete to clean off of her!
Puffs/Cheerios are good starter finger foods. It helps them to learn how to pick pieces of food up and feed themselves.
I give them to DD as a snack, or give her a few while I get her lunch or dinner ready... like an appitizer.
Cheerios now come in handy when she's having a temper tantrum in a store. I give her a snack cup with them and she's happy as a clam.

Re: teething biscuits???? when can you give them?
I *HATE* teething biscuits!!!!! They are BEYOND messy (and I've tried a few types). Ann isn't a big fan of puffs (I still have the original package I bought 3 months ago) but she'll eat them. I'd rather give her Cheerios (usually as an "appetizer" while I'm getting her meal ready). Same with Mum Mums.
She also likes graham crackers which are a little less messy than the teething biscuits.

I started DS on puffs at 6 months old...I give them to him inbetween meals, when he is playing in his high chair but not enough to screw up his eating schedule. I have yet to try the Mum-Mums

I'm going to try these too-I don't want to give teething biscuits because they seem like such a choking risk but these seem like a better answer than puffs since they can't really suck on puffs, etc.

Re: teething biscuits???? when can you give them?
I gave both my sons these Italian cookies named Mellin Biscotti. They loved them and still do. Even though it turns pasty when they would suck on it, I would watch them very carefully. You never know with any type of cookie. I buy them at an Italian store in Whitestone. They look like this: mellin

Re: teething biscuits???? when can you give them?
I would try the puffs or Baby Mum-Mums also--the teething biscuits are a choking hazard.
I did give them to DS a few times while I was sitting right in front of him, the first two times it was fine, and he liked it. The third time he managed to suck/gnaw a big chunk off before I knew it and started choking! Scared the crap out of me, though we got it out and he was fine.
I don't preach to parents about many things, but I do say skip the teething biscuits based on this experience. Not worth it.
