Re: Tell me something unique about your house!
I don't think there is anything unique about our home - but we don't know much about the people who used to live here other than they were veteran's and died and the reason the house went thru a flipper.

Re: Tell me something unique about your house!
I found nude photos of the prior owners' private parts in a box in my closet. You'd think they'd remember to take those with them.
I'll have to think about whether or not we have something unique about the actual house.

Re: Tell me something unique about your house!
Here's a funny story my brother just shared with me.
When my parent's moved into their first house in Buffalo in the early 1970s - the day of closing when they moved in - none of the lights worked.
The previous owner's had removed all the light bulbs from every light socket in the house and it forced my parent's to run to the nearest store to buy lightbulbs for their entire home.
Then during the blizzard of '77, my brother's (I wasn't around yet) went sleddng out their second story window b/c the snow drifts were that high up. And it was the only way to get outside.

I found a crate of those old fashioned seltzer bottles. I still have them in my garage somewhere.

Nothing unique about our coop - unless you count the vents in the bathroom that allow us to clearly hear what the people upstairs and downstairs are saying
We NEVER talk about anything of substance in the bathroom because of that

Re: Tell me something unique about your house!
Nothing unique really because I live in a Levitt, but when we moved in the bedroom that belonged to the previous owner's son was painted black with those glow in the dark starts on the ceiling. It's baby blue now, and when we tell people about the black (we need to replace the door handle, it's still black) they always are surprised that it painted over so well.
There was a hole in his closet with socks stuffed in it--he must have kept his stash there My FIL filled it.
Also, our shed had a lock on the inside, the kid apparantely spent a lot of time out there.

Our building is an historic landmark and was originally a hotel for silent movie stars back in the 1920's - Charlie Chaplin lived here while he filmed in Astoria
FM!
We have a visibly lopsided window, a non-functioning dumbwaiter in our foyer and what used to a space for a murphy bed. And I think there are bowling squirrels above us.

Re: Tell me something unique about your house!
The walls are made of drywall but with this texturizing stuff sprayed over it, so the walls aren't smooth. Seems that a lot of the houses out here have that.
All the houses in FL have this too. It's also on the ceiling and outside of the house.
Our house is only 2 years old so not much of real interesting things.
The entire frame of the house is cinderblock.

Re: Tell me something unique about your house!
We had a built in sauna in our downstairs bathroom, but ripped it out when we renovated. I was too claustrophobic for that thing!
Also, after we gutted our family room, we all wrote our names on the 2x4's, put the date and my son drew a picture- before the new walls went up.
ETA- we had a piano in our laundry room. Had to have a company come in and brak it apart piece by piece to remove it. The house must have been built around it!

Ahh yes...the good old murphy's bed smacked dab in the middle of our living room wall...not sure where yours is...lol we also found two old sconce outlets on each side of the murphy bed hidden behind the drywall while doing renvoations...

Re: Tell me something unique about your house!
THe unique thing about our house is that I redeisgned the entire upstairs. We had it built so when I saw the plasn of the hosue we lived I hated the upstairs so I redrew them with an open foyer a much bigger master bedrrom and bath and only 3 bedrooms total. I also put my washer and dryer upstairs. Originally it had 3 bedrooms and an office. I like that it was exactly how I wanted it and I drew up what I wanted intstead of having an architect change it.

Re: Tell me something unique about your house!
the only unique thing about our house is that a giant must have installed the curtain rod in the upstairs bathroom because i can barely reach it. and the shower curtain is just long enough to keep the water in the shower. crazy tall people!

Re: Tell me something unique about your house!
Okay not really my house, but at my parents house, the redid their kitchen back in 1988 when we moved in and me and my sisters and brothers wrote all over the drywall before they put up wallpaper. Included in it was our crushes at the time, our ages, what we hoped to be when we got older (no my brother never became an astronaut), and other funny sayings about us.
Our parents just redid the wallpaper in 2006 and called us all over to see the wall....it was hysterical! Needless to say none of us married our crushes back then.
