The closest Polar Express Train Ride?
Am I looking at this correctly? Is the closest one is in the Catskills? It's a little over 2 hours away! Do you stay the night somewhere or just drive up for the day?

The one in Riverhead is nice, it's a trolley not a train. I posted some pics last year or the year before. We liked it, although I know some people didn't. Under 2 cannot attend though.

I think we'll try and get to for the Essex CT one. I can't do Riverhead because I want to take my 1 year old with us. We probably wI'll drive up and back same day.

Re: The closest Polar Express Train Ride?
Heres a link that shows the different trains that do it. Some of them are already sold out. Some of them aren't even listed yet. We want to do the carver ma one. Okay the link isn't working. It's www.raileventsinc.com then click on polar express then locations.

CT wasn't bad. We drove there and it took about 2.5 hours then took the ferry home, still took about 2.5 hours but we were able to relax.

FYI the North Fork Trolley ones went on sale today. Many days/times are sold out, so I would get them soon!

The whole thing total was like an hour and a half I think.... I can't remember. The ride TO the "north pole" was maybe 20 minutes

The ride to the North Pole is longer then the way back. They take you around in circles for a bit lol

Does anyone know if there are promo codes for the North Fork one?
(BTW... We did the Philipsburg one (in NJ and PA) two years ago... it was HORRIBLE!! Not worth the trip!!)

The North Fork one doesn't have during the day I don't think?
If you do another line, I would do night. You can't see any Christmas lights during the day

Since it's a licensed Polar Express event, they have to pay quite a bit for each ticket sold to the franchise. I think something like $25 per ticket they said.
I've seen many people complain about the price, but it's a one time thing. You pay twice if not more to see a Broadway show, more for a nice dinner, etc. so I personally don't think it's that much for a seasonal event.
