The Gender Envelope: Tonight and nervous (Updated)
Dh and I have our gender reveal envelope sitting here for the last 19 days. We are doing what we did with ds- having a nice dinner home then opening it. However we only kept and will keep these results to ourselves until the actual birth. My parents don't want to know Til then so we just plan to find out so we can do the nursery. We are oos so no one will be seeing the progress and furniture really needs to get ordered.
But for some reason I am so nervous! I know I will be just as happy with another son but so many people including my mother have told me they hope it's a girl this time. My mom hope my last was a girl too and kept saying so even when I knew it was a boy so of course that got me upset. I know this baby will be loved by all just as much... But I'm so nervous since I know this will be our last time finding out the gender of our child.
Guess we will soon see if ds will be getting a brother or sister!
ETA: bump for update at end of thread.

The Gender Envelope: Tonight and nervous
That's so much fun! I want to say "good luck" for lack of a better term.
As for your mom making comments about a girl, i totally understand. My mom did the same thing and still does after we found out it was a boy. She is constantly going "if it was a girl the baby would get so much more"! or "I hope someone gives me a Granddaughter" or "the stuff for girls is just so much cuter then a boy". I DEF hurts my feelings but I think about my dad who is SO over the moon that we are having a boy and as long as he is healthy that's really all that matters.
Keep us updated!!!!

You have amazing restraint. I'm team green and I'm loving not knowing but... if I had it written on a piece of paper sitting in front of me there's no way I couldn't rip the envelope open to know.

Good luck and just remember...if it is another little boy, I can vouch for the fact that its an incredible thing..nothing quite like little brothers and the way they adore their mom I never had pressure from family, I actually remember my mom saying how sweet another little boy would be but that must be hard to hear comments. Either way, healthy baby is a blessing right?

Re: The Gender Envelope: Tonight and nervous
After years of trials and failures at starting a family .. many losses.. a surrogate.. and IVFs later ....... my parents and every other smart person in my life knows better than to tell me what gender they hope for! My parents are just pretty darn grateful to be getting a grandchild at all and they know it! Although.. I could see that being VERY frustrating to deal with so I'm sorry they're like that.
Good luck with your gender reveal!

The Gender Envelope: Tonight and nervous
Well, we did it! It was a wonderful night with dinner and dessert at home (and of course sparkling grape juice). We have agreed with each other to keep it between us at least for now.
As for waiting so long, it was mostly bc DH has been working crazy shifts and we just hadn't had the chance for a nice meal together. Last night just felt like a good time.
Thanks for the responses. Continued happy and healthy pregnancies! Now we get to pick an official name!

We are team green, but I think if we had decided to find out we would have kept it secret too.
