I guess I am in the vast minority, but I happen to prefer Luciano to Lucian and I like how it sounds better with Paolo.
That being said, DH and I had been going back and forth with names, however recently, DH has adopted a philosophy that I think every woman can get behind:
When DH is asked about potential names he says, "DW has chosen Peter Andrew...while I had input...she's in charge of 'output' and therefore gets the final vote."

I agree that Luciano Paulo sounds too sing songy to me. Lucian Paulo sounds better to me. Plus, it may only be an "o" but doesn't that change how you pronounce it totally, like other said?

I have a similar issue. DH wants a name that can be pronounced in his native language... its all a matter of adding some letters here and there, but I don't like it!
My plan is to start avoiding the issue, not discuss it with him at all, and when time comes just name the baby by myself and sign the papers when he isn't looking wish me luck 
Really, in these men's minds whats wrong with nice simple 2 syllable names anyway?
Fight the battle! if not only for your baby, but for the hundreds of babies who will have extra necessary syllables!!! and then come back and teach us

i have a last name that ends in "ano" and my dh wants Christiano, Luciano, Adriano..IM LIKE, HELLLOOOOO, too many o's.
I personally like Luciano better, and LOVE Paolo, BUT dont think they sound good together..

Well, I'm going totally against the grain here and saying I like Lucious...but, that wasn't the question
Its tough because its his friggin name...you will be calling him this forever. If you did name him Luciano, like DH wanted...would you call him Luciano or Lucian?

so, I would be LuciAn...and officially pronounced the way you pronounce the name in spanish LuseeAn.
so, my baby in spanish would be
