the hits keep coming...
so I get a phone call from dr. K. I know immediately something is wrong or else it would have been a nurse.
My tennessee bloods came back highly elevated. He told me that I will need "support" to carry a pregnancy to full term. He mentioned lovenox shots and some other stuff.
I can deal with this, it is not the end of the world but I feel like i dont know anything. HE said we would discuss this after my surgery next week, which annoys me.
Can anyone shed some light on what these tests mean? I asked for a diagnosis name and he just said somehting about antiphosphliphids. Great, what does it all mean????
TIA and sorry for so many questions lately!! ______________________________________________ Thanks girls, I really am happy to be getting results, it has just been a rough few days! If all it takes is a shot and a baby aspirin to have a baby, I am okay with that. I will do anything I have to.
My dh and I are going away for a night this weekend to celebrate our anniversary. we need the time away from all this! I am looking forward to it!
Thanks again and with all the recent pregnancies around here, I can't help but be positive!!!

I'm not sure what that means sweetie. I have nothing but good things to say about Dr. K though, so I'm confident that he'll do everything he can. I know a bunch of people on the lovenox shots who are pregnant

I had those tests done too and mine came back elevated. Basically what they do is look for an antibody in your blood, if it is elevated it means that when you are pg your body will form blood clots to fight off the pregnancy. If you take lovenox (or heparin) then you are thinning your blood so that the clots can not form and you can carry a pregnancy to term. That is the gist of it. You can check out this website for more information on APS http://www.apsfa.org/
I took lovenox during my pregnancy and if you want to fm I can and will answer any questions you might have.
(also Dr. K is the one who diagnosed me)

I have a protein S deficiency and I take a lovenox shot every day. I am 16 weeks pregnant now - the lovenox is doing it job. I know it sounds daunting, but its not bad. Lovenox comes in pre-filled syringes so you don't have to draw anything up. I also took baby aspirin for the first 8 weeks. If you have any questions about it, please feel free to FM me.

Don't lose hope. You're getting answers, which is GOOD. A friend of mine had to do 2 shots of heparin throughout her whole ivf and pregnancy and she now has 3 yr old beautiful twin girls. The doctors are on it!

Re: the hits keep coming...
I am on Lovenox 2X a day for multiple blood clotting issues(MTHFR, PAI-1, a few others I can't remember) I am also on 1 baby asprin and am 19 weeks pregnant with twins. For the MTHFR I also take Metanx which is a high dose folic acid and B vitamins. I am on vitamin e which is supposed to help clotting issues. My sister also was on lovenox through her pregnancy and has a beautiful and healthy 16 month old daughter.
