The nominee for secretary of education...
There were so many problematic things that came from her hearing today, I don't even know where to start.
For example: guns belong in some schools because of grizzly bears. I AM NOT JOKING SHE SAID THIS. TO A SENATOR FROM CONNECTICUT.
How about that she doesn't know what IDEA is? Or won't commit to upholding school safety laws that protect students from sexual assault?
What the fluck is happening. This is not normal.

Of all his cabinet picks, this might be among the worst with regard to qualifications. She has no experience with public ed, even as a student (not that this would qualify her). Her background is in dismantling public schools. I think there is lots of potential for disaster here. Al Franken nailed her on her lack of basic knowledge; I hope there is more to come along those lines.

The IDEA comments have my blood boiling. I was screaming at the tv.
Also a clerical error listed her as VP of her mom's organization for years? Total BS! So if she ever actually turns in her paperwork or tax returns anything can be waved away as a clerical error?
Between her and the jerk chairing the hearing I was losing it. I can't believe he spent what felt like forever describing over and over that he wasn't going to let them ask more questions. I'm sure it would have actually made the hearing shorter rather than debating the request over and over.

Totally.   Ironically we do have bears in my town, though they have never made their way into any of the schools.

I, for one, just can't stand it anymore! Every time I turn on the TV I hear about another grizzly bear attack in a school. When is something finally going to be done about these damn bears??

Trump to have a Senate hearing without completing an ethics review on how she planned to avoid conflicts of interest. He kept promising to hire the "best people", but it really looks like he just had someone go through the $$$ donor list and possibly just any name he happened to remember (Carson and Perry for instance), and pick random people from the lists.
Even if he somehow leaves office (and even if he doesn't), the people he puts in place will be around for the next 4 years, and they probably have more influence on things that happen than the President has....

For someone who wanted to "drain the swamp" he's doing an EXCELLENT job of filling up that swamp with all of his billionaire, unqualified friends. We're so fcuked! SMH.

The whole hearing was appalling.
Chris Murphy looked like he was going to vomit after questioning her on guns in schools. The grizzly comment was dumb, but for her to tell the senator that was there when Sandy Hook happened that schools should have guns just showed her cluelessness.

I have a child with special needs. There has been a lot of chatter on some special needs parent facebook groups I'm in about how horrible this cabinet pick is for special education... I have to admit, it is making me worried.

Not sure when but the Senate will vote to confirm or not. They are still submitting written questions and waiting for her ethics paperwork.
You can call Schumer and Gillibrand to express your opinion.
