The offer - ** update **

So DH and I just e-mailed the offer to the REA (no formal paperwork or anything). The offer included a 3% seller's concession.

The REA basically laughed and said that the seller would never come down to where we want (he's asking a RIDICULOUS price for a 2 BR).

He said that he will present the offer to the seller and get back to us, but basically insinuated that this is not going to happen. He also said that there have been higher offers on the house, which I believe to be completely false.

We happen to think that we made a VERY fair offer - considering the size of the house.

I was supposed to go see the house again tomorrow, but the REA ignored my inquiries as to what time I could see it.

Update -

The guy called DH last night around 9:30 with a counter that is still much higher than we are willing to pay for this house

And so we begin the search all over again.

I'm sorry this happened Chat Icon If you think it is a fair price, sitck to it. Let the SELLER determine if it is a fair price, not the broker!

Re: The offer

Will he even present it to the seller if it was just an e-mailed offer and nothing "official"?

Re: The offer

This guy was so rude to DH, that we are not calling him anymore. if he calls us back to counter or ask if we would re-consider our offer, we will. But I am not going out of my way to call him.

Re: The offer

Legally, realtors are supposed to show all offers to the owners, no matter what they think of them. You could offer $5 for the house, and he is supposed to show it.

You never know, the owners may be more down-to-earth than the realtor and they may counter if they want a little more.

But if you thought the asking price was too high, you should stick to your price. Some realtors will say stuff like this to try and get you to go higher.

Good luck, and if this one doesn't work out, you will find your house.

Re: The offer

really..the nerve. See what happens but that's downright rude.

I guess this realtor would rather have no commission?

What % lower did you offer?

I can't believe the realtor was so rude! Does he think he'll make any sales that way?

If he really thought your offer was too low, he could have found a polite way to tell you that. Some realtors will also offer to show you other homes in your price range if it's not going to work out.

Oh well, move on. He lost a potential sale for his clientChat Icon

Have you considered looking for houses by sale by owner? DH and I thought many of the Real Estate Agents were so incredibly annoying and rude. We didn't go through one to buy our house and we had such a pleasant experience.

Good luck!

Re: The offer

I'm so sorry Vanessa! That's totally stinks! I think the REA is the pain, not the homeowner. Can you call the office and ask another REA to present the offer?

Re: The offer

Did you sign anything saying that this realtor represents both you and the seller, maybe you can use a different REA to represent you.

It sounds like someone my DH and I dealt with... He had no patience, was short with me. I had no problem telling him how rude he was!!!

sorry it didn't work out. maybe the seller will realize that his/her price is too high and lower the listing price eventually. Is it on MLSLI? Can you bookmark it?

REALLY, I'm beginning to rethink the REA. I would call the REA's office and ask to speak to the RE's manager about the situation regardless.
