The reference about the list only containing the 'good' people thing is very interesting. I wonder if it applies to the other group also... is there another list for the original Losters?
And they also tried to take Eko... so he's good too I guess... I don't buy the nigerian drug runner thing for him at all.

One thing I was wondering... how did Bernard end up in the chair? Wasn;t he in the back using the bathroom when the plane crashed. I guess he got in a seat when the hit some turbulance.
I thought it was good episode- at least we don't know that the others kill people. So far the only killer on the island is AL.
At least its confirmed that AL shot Shannon. I do think that sometimes we all get carried away with conspiracy theories. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar...

Goodwin asked AL about whether or not she had kids. She hesitated before she answered yes, leading me to believe she either a) cannot have children or b) had one and it passed away.
She would not be helpful to them if their goal was to create another civilization (which is what I personally believe they do, which is why I don't think they kill the people they take). The people that are left are:
AL: possible problem with child bearing
Bernard: old, not ideal for procreating
Libby: I think she's an Other
Cindy: taken last episode
Eko: they tried to take him and he killed 2 of them
Makes sense as to why they're left...

lost scene from last night the showed on gma had the two kids that were taken runnning up to say the found something. It was a big wooden cargo box lying on the beach, on the box it had a picture of an island the island was labeled walkabout. Inside the box was a bunch of austrailan returning boomerangs

before they were taken, they told eveyone. It showed everyone sitting on the beach by the fire then the kids came running up shouting we found something

Also- wasn't Claire taken by Rosseau- who warned them about the others. For that to be the case, Rosseau would have to be an "other".
Also AL may have given a child up for adoption- thats the impression I got.

I agree... I also think she's not telling the whole truth or the whole story on having kids. I don't know if adoption is the answer but something's up there, definitely.

I probably should have qualified my statement a bit better.
I believe the Others are the scientists from the Dharma experiment. That lends into what I was trying to say but didn't very well. They know that eventually they will die off and will need 'new recruits' to carry on whatever it is that they're doing there. IMO that's why they're fixated on taking children first, since they can raise them to do what they need them to do. Also, verile men and healthy women to have more children, for the same reason. I know I referenced it as 'creating civiliation' but I misspoke, that's not what I inteded to say.
Look at Goodwin and how 'normal' and well-spoken he was. He, we now know, was an Other. I don't think that the Others are malicious in their intent, although the means to their ends sometimes mandates malicious acts. But I don't think they kill just to kill. I think they do it when they feel it is necessary to preserve the integrity of whatever it is they're doing.
As for why this group and not the other, I think the answers are pretty simple - this group was very easy to break down. They didn't have the resources that the other group has and they also don't have the number of people that the other group had. The other group had the manifest, allowing them to tick off anyone who may or may not have been on the plane. And, this group had 2 children, the other only Walt (which they did take).
That said, I do not think that Ethan was an Other. Danielle is obviously deathly afraid of Others, I don't think that's something she's faking. She also was somehow involved in Ethan's babynapping plot given the scratches from Clare. If Ethan were an Other, Danielle would not have been working with him, that wouldn't make any sense. So, to me, that leaves another unknown contingency on the island.

She was taken by Ethan BUT Rousseau had something to do with it (see my post above yours). Remember when Rousseau came back and was acting all crazy and it was only Charlie, Clare and the baby, she wanted to hold the baby? When she put her arms out, there were fairly fresh scratches from fingernails there. Clare quickly flashedback to a struggle and she asked Rousseau when she did that to her. So, we're not sure in what capacity, but she was definitely involved in the whole babynapping thing.
