Re: The War on Christmas
I think the sheer fact that someone chooses to take the time to wish you a happy anything is a nice gesture. I think we all need to put the guard down a little and just say thank you!

Re: The War on Christmas
I got a Christmas Letter in the mail today from cousins...they have twin five year old girls and a 7 yr old boy...they always write these really nice sentiments...
well this year was, The Meaning of Christmas...
(they are Catholic and celebrate Christmas by the way)
MAriah says that Christmas is the christmas tree...Jessica says, it is Chanukah, and I say (the 7 yr old) it is Kwanzaa. My mom and dad say it is ...(goes into a nice saying about christmas)
At the end it says.... We wish you A Merry Christmas, a Happy Chanukah, a Happy Kwanzaa, and simply, a Happy Holiday!
**** I posted this because, I think that any sincere gesture of wishing someone well should be taken...there are so many people who are grumpy and don't say anything at all, when someone says something, anything, it is nice to hear.

Re: The War on Christmas
I respect everyone's opinion, but I don't think wishing someone a merry christmas is a big deal. I grew up in a jewish family...so they want you to have a nice day on December 25th...what's the big deal? There is no tattoo on my forehead saying what religion I am, but people are way to sensitive. In the past few years I have learned about and lean to the christian faith in my beliefs, but from what I know of the historical perspective of the holidays, I don't think it matters either way what you call it. I just don't understand why some get so offended by it.

What is so hard in accepting a friendly holiday greeting? Be happy that you are getting a greeting at all...it is not to common to find during this time of year.
Why waste your time getting offended??? I have yet to tell the 8 jewish clients that have wished me a Happy Chanukah that I'm not jewish.
In the world that we live in today - any friendly greeting is accepting in my eyes...christen, jewish or neither...
I agree. In today's day and age, I'll take a smile from the girl or guy from behind the counter, let alone a friendly greeting. But I guess people just need to fight over something during the holidays. So let's fight over holiday wishes.

I agree wholeheartedly. I do not see happy holidays as a war on Christmas. It's just a greeting, and perfect to use with someone whose religious leanings (or lack of them) are unknown to you. There are many religions around besides Christianity, and the simple phrase Happy Holidays includes everyone. Even if you are an atheist, you will have off Christmas Day in all likelihood, and you will celebrate New Year's.
I don't understand why so many of the Christian faith feel attacked by this, but c'est la vie. FYI--I'm Catholic.

Im Jewish and I appreciate any gesture of good spirit. No one is looking to convert me by wishing me a Merry Christmas.
I love you.
I say Merry Christmas and Enjoy your holiday.
If someone said Happy ANYTHING to me...in this day and age, I'd be touched and grateful.
people are so ridiculous and need to just be THANKFUL.
Yes, yes and yes (I love you too Goldi)
As for Naunie trying to be nice, not possible.
Carry on.
I love you guys too!

It's just all so ridiculous. I'm all for including everyone and making sure no one feels like they are being slighted, but people feeling like they can't say Merry Christmas is just crazy. What we should REALLY be saying is, "Happy Consumersday!" or "Happy Spendyourmoneydays". Because, if anyone else has noticed, it's not like it's all about the actual holidays anymore, anyway.
