Re: The wedding dress thread got me thinking..
Never.
It was incredibly expensive and it is probably silly NOT to sell it.
The funny part is, I am not usually a sentimental person, but I dress I could never sell.
I have it preserved and in my attic.
Maybe I will make christening gowns for my children out of it.
Maybe my daughter or DIL will wear it (doubtful)
Maybe my daughter will play dress up with it.
Or maybe it will sit in the box forever.
But I would NEVER part with it

Re: The wedding dress thread got me thinking..
I bought my wedding dress on Ebay 4 years ago, and recently gave it away to a friend of the family who wore it last month for her wedding too. She's planning on doing the same after she gets it cleaned. So it's been worn in 3 weddings and counting, and I love the fact that it's being passed around the country, making brides look fabulous over & over again

Re: The wedding dress thread got me thinking..
nope, never got it cleaned or preserved, it is in one of those vacum sucked ziplock bags at my parents house. If I have children one day, i hope to use the material for a baptism outfit

Re: The wedding dress thread got me thinking..
I just sold mine on preownedweddinggowns.com and i got an email back from the girl saying how happy she was with the dress, how she couldnt wait to wear it and this was the only way she would get "her" dress, because the price tag on a new one was out of her reach.
I was really happy to know that all that money wasnt in vein, its getting good wear.
Wearing it for a few hours seemed like such a waste, and im glad someone else is getting joy from it. Plus im putting the money toward a very needed vaction. Honestly, i knew if i didnt sell it, it would have just rotted in a closet somewhere.....it was a win win.

Same exact thing with me. I actually bought my dress, then hated it. so I bought another one & sold the first one on preownedweddingdresses.com. The girl was SOOO happy. I didn't make back all my money but I got like $800 for it.

Re: The wedding dress thread got me thinking..
I still haven't cleaned my dress and it's been 6 years! It's still hanging at my parents' house along with my other wedding stuff. I loved my dress so I wouldn't feel right selling it, but I have no idea what to do with it either.

Re: The wedding dress thread got me thinking..
I NEVER thought about selling my wedding dress. Now that I am almost divorced, I think about donating it. I know it would KILL my STBX since he was crushed when I asked him to give his niece (my god daughter) my headpiece (she is 4) since she LOVES tiaras and to play dress up. Now that I know how he feels about it....i might just hang on to it a bit longer.

Re: The wedding dress thread got me thinking..
I would totally sell mine if I still had it.
Two hours before my ceremony the zipper busted, so I brought mine back to Macy's Bridal when we got back from our honeymoon. I got a full refund on the dress and alterations.

Re: The wedding dress thread got me thinking..
My mom wanted to keep it, so she cleaned it & has it in her house.
I have no room for it, so if it was in my house, I might donate it eventually. I would want to keep it if I had kids, if not to pass it down, at least to show them, or use the fabric.

Nope. DD has already told me she intends to wear it on HER wedding day (which HOPEFULLY won't be for at least another 15 years!!!!! )

Re: The wedding dress thread got me thinking..
Mine is still hanging in my old room exactly where I left it 3 years ago. I could never sell it. I am attached to it. I have thought about making it a christening gown but I am way to attached to cut it up and since I am having 2 girls it wouldn't work anyway

I had mine cut down for a christening gown for my daughter. This is a very good idea.

Re: The wedding dress thread got me thinking..
I want too so badly but no one wants to pay for how much i want for it. I spent around $900 on it and wanted at least $400 for me to part with it. It is still in amazing condition, cleaned and preserved. Maybe I will try preownedweddinggowns.com.
As much as I love my dress it is fabric that I sat in for 12 hours so really its not a big deal. The only reason why i feel bad is because my mother paid for my dress so i was thinking christening gowns even though I am not catholic and i am not a fan or the faith but my mother would make me go through with it.

Re: The wedding dress thread got me thinking..
I have no intention of selling my gown. Instead I would like to make a christening gown from the material.
I get that it seems like a waste b/c you only wear it once but I'm hoping at least by making it a christening gown it will continue to be used.

Re: The wedding dress thread got me thinking..
I thought about selling mine but my husband didn't want me too. He said it was bad luck or something. Chinese superstitions are different.
Anyway, my SIL sold hers on Ebay. She actually sold it for a great price!!
