Re: The woman is responsible for the housework.

It truly depends on the individual household. What works for DH and I - splitting up the chores - wouldn't work in other households for various reasons. And vice-versa.
I don't feel like just because I have a vagina means I need to be the one to do all of the household chores...that its a gender-specific role...no.

Re: The woman is responsible for the housework.
Honestly? I am responsible for absolutely everything, from bills to cleaning, cooking, to kids, etc... maybe once a month I get fried and shut down for a day or so and DH will handle the kids one night and cook and maybe clean up the kitchen, but that is it

Re: The woman is responsible for the housework.
I disagree with the idea that women are responsible for housework, but I know a lot of people still feel this way. Especially people in generations before, like my MIL for example. I'm very lucky that my DH is great about doing housework & totally makes up for my recent laziness with it. He does more than his fair share of it.

Re: The woman is responsible for the housework.
I am a SAHM mom so I feel the kids, housework and cooking is my "job". I do all the dealings that have to do with the kids (Dr, meetings, baths, laundry etc…) I do all the cooking and almost all of the housework. DH does straighten up the toys in the living room when I'm doing bath time. He also does 90% of his own laundry which I feel bad about, but he likes doing that. He also walks the dog and does garbage on garbage day.
I am fortunate enough to have a DH who recognizes that this is my job and he is very grateful and always generous with me (little gifts, extra $, etc.)

Re: The woman is responsible for the housework.
Ehh, it depends. I actually kinda LIKE to clean and do some housework.
me and DH both work-i work a few less hours than him-but I do mostly all the housework...which means i will cook, clean/dust on weekends and straighten up.
if he helps me-he will do dishes and vacumm or clean floor. but he will never ever scrub a bathroom or clean a toilet lol

I am a very independent person. Not OCD but if I see something that needs to be done I do it. That means I do a lot more in the house than DH does. He doesn't have that drive. I feel that he does think I should do the majority of the work even though I work the longer hours and have the longer commute. He has a traditional mindset like that. He will do things I ask of him but it's rarely in a timely manner.
Does it irk the crap out of me...yep...is there a damn thing I can do about it..nope..so I hired a cleaning lady. After years of fighting about the housecleaning, we have someone to do it on a regular basis which means I have to do less, less often. I still do all of the laundry, pay the bills, hire contractors, and 80% of the food shopping/house maninentance shopping. There are some battles you have to pick. I think the balance is not fair but I have less stress not fighting about it.
This is life.
ITA. I just haven't hired a cleaning lady bc I am OCD and they just dont do a good enought job for me.
