Themes for girls' b-day party (dress pictures added, as requested!)

I was originally thinking of doing Hawaiian/hula for DD's 2nd b-day (because I had a dress w/hula girl on it Chat Icon ), and I may still do that, but I am looking for other ideas.

For her 1st b-day, we did a pink/green garden theme.

Her party will be in our backyard, close friends & family. But I still like to do a theme-- decorations, invites, cake (I'll make the cake so I have to find a cool one for the theme), etc.

Thanks!

Update:
Ok, these are the dress possibilities (as of now Chat Icon I have a dress-buying problem Chat Icon Chat Icon )

This one I LOVE, I emailed Larry Birkhead asking about it when I saw Dannilynn wearing it in a magazine Chat Icon But probably is too dressy for our backyard party. Could use it for Easter, but I have another dress I love for Easter too Chat Icon

This is the hula one I got on clearance last year that prompted me wanting a hula/Hawaiian theme. It's really cute, a soft green...but not sure it's the "one" anymore for her party, along with the theme.

Close-up of hula detail (it's only in the one spot on the front of the dress, the rest of the dress is plain)

LOVE this dress for her b-day (will definitely use this for her b-day pics with Lori
Chat Icon )

Have this one too (another possibility for photos with Lori Chat Icon ), but not sure if I want it for her b-day party

I did a Hula party for dd's 1st bday. It was really cute and fun.
for her 2nd we did a Mickey/Minnie theme and this year we will probably do a Circus theme.
I think this one is going to be the hardest since we want a clown, dunk tank and other fun activities for the kids.

fyi I bought my luau invitations from this website.
http://www.photocarddesigns.com/
they have a really cute design for a luau parties.

I totally love the hula party idea!!!!

But if I had to pick another, I have to say that I love the whole underwater kind of theme. I just love the idea of fish in bowls serving as centerpieces... shells, sand... Can you have sand if it's underwater? Hhhmm... Maybe it's a general BEACH theme that I like which brings me back to why I love the hula idea! I am so sorry - I apparently am no help to you since I circled back to your original idea Chat Icon

I was going to do an M&M theme for Mattea's 1st birhday but then I saw this on birthdayexpress.com and decided to go with it. I also got her an outfit to match the theme!

So funny, I thought about doing a beach theme instead of strictly Hula/Hawaiian...maybe I will. I NEED to find a cute cake to make, that's what's directing my search at this point Chat Icon

Very true! That would be cute!

I guess I have a larger issue too Chat Icon I initially bought the hula dress (from Gymboree) last year for the purpose of her wearing it for her 2nd b-day and doing a Hula theme. But since then, I've bought several other dresses that I LOVE that she could possibly wear for her b-day too...while they're not "hula", they could be "beachy" I guess Chat Icon Chat Icon Seriously, I know it's ridiculous to think about this, I completely admit it Chat Icon Chat Icon

I love the idea of a hula theme, BUT what I think you should do is post the dresses and we can offer theme suggestion based on the dresses so that we create the theme around the dress!

I am of no help I love all the dresses I think the Hula theme is really cute and although you feel its not "the one" it will look really nice with that theme. The dressy one love and even if its the backyard she's the b'day girl so she can stand out

I would go with dress #2 and the hawaiian theme. Love the 3rd and 4th dresses as well. Love the 1st one but since you did pink and green for her 1st, I'd skip those colors. Good luck, keep us posted!
