thin uterine lining
Hi ladies,
I'm on my 3rd clomid/IUI cycle, and my RE is concerned that my lining is too thin. It's only 4 at CD 10, whereas last cycle it was 8 at CD 12. He mentioned putting me on estrogen if it's not thicker soon. I have 3 follies that are growing nicely. Has anyone ever experienced this thin lining? Is it a huge problem or is it easily corrected? I'm worried that I'll be out this cycle because of it.
TIA

Re: thin uterine lining
I historically have issues with a thin lining! The good news is I have been able to correct it and have gotten pregnant- and my lining issues are unrelated to the losses.
I've taken estrogen to thicken it which does help, though for me it's not enough. I use viagra suppositories (I know what you're thinking ) It's a compound version that's meant to be used as a suppository The only downside is, it's expensive. It was $160 bucks for 14 of them.

Re: thin uterine lining
Thanks for your response!
I'm glad that it's something that can be corrected (with Viagra )! Is it unrealistic for m,e to expect it to be corrected this cycle when he puts me on something, or is it a wait until next cycle sort of thing? (I hope not!!)

Re: thin uterine lining
It's totally possible that it could kick in fast and thicken up!! I think that's what's commonly done for people who have a thin lining!!
I also go to acupuncture which helps the lining, but that's more of a cumulative thing that kicks in over time.
Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What's important is if it's triple layered. When I got pregnant from IUI last year, my lining was in the 6s, but it was triple layered.

Re: thin uterine lining
I had the same problem! I did two cycles of Clomid - March and April. My lining was always in the 4's and 5's. My RE said it is b/c Clomid is an estrogen blocker and your body needs estrogen to build up the lining. A thinning lining is a common side effect. I used estrogen pills (Estradiol) as suppositories. For me, they didn't work either cycle and I didn't get pregnant. My RE decided to take me off Clomid since my body just didn't respond well.
Good Luck!!

Re: thin uterine lining
My OB was going to give me estridol with clomid but RE did not. My lining thinned after just 2 months also (7.5 then 6.5) They switched me to Femara and its around 11.5 now. When it was 6.5 the RE wasnt concerned but did mention viagra.

Re: thin uterine lining
Clomid seriously thinned my lining and we switched to Femara which did not thin my lining at all. My RE did not wind up giving me estorgen during my Clomid cycle and my lining eventually reached the minimum by the time of my IUI.

Re: thin uterine lining
My lining thinned out when my dose was increased on Clomid. I was switched to Femara and given Estradiol for 10 days, it seemed to help.

Re: thin uterine lining
Thanks for your responses ladies. Hopefully he will give me something tomorrow to help it thicken. I may take a break from Clomid if this cycle doesn't work.

Re: thin uterine lining
I also had a problem with thin lining. I tried everything, estrogen, viagra. On my last cycle I started acupuncture and took viagra. At my last monitoring appointment my lining was over 9! I could not believe it, the most it has ever been was in the 6 range. I am happy to say that I am now over 19 weeks pregnant. I would look into acupuncture. I went to Andy Kaplan in rockville Centre, he was wonderful! Lots of luck to you.
