Those of you with Potty Trained Boys...

at what age did you teach them to pee while standing?
Or did you teach them that from the start.

Thanks!

Jack was trained to pee standing about 4 months after he started potty training.

We taught him within a month or 2. Actually I should say DH taught him - he was taught to put the seat up, pee, clean his penis with a piece of toilet tissue, wipe anything that falls, flush, put the seat down and wash hands. He learned at 2 1/2 and now at almost 3 does all the steps I would say 95% of the time.

Re: Those of you with Potty Trained Boys...

we did pee sitting down from day 1. But about 2 weeks in (I think from prompting from daddy) he woke up one morning and said he was going to pee standing up and never looked back.

My SIL trained her son standing up from day 1

I felt like I just didnt know where to start wtih the standing up thing.

Re: Those of you with Potty Trained Boys...

The only reason I ask...is the kid I babysit for is going to be 4 in May.
He has been potty trained for at least 6 months. He pees sitting down still. Honestly...I don't know how he does it, but he pees all over my toilet seat while sitting down Chat Icon Chat Icon
And I really thought he should be doing it standing up by now...what do I know I have a daughter...god help me if the next one is a boy Chat Icon

Mine has been trained for almost 2 months, and he still sits. I am thinking about having dad work with him on peeing standing up, because I, too, and tired of cleaning all the pee off the seat!

Marcie,
If he insist on sitting teach him to pee holding his weenie down. We had to teach Teddy that because he refused to pee standing up, although he is doing it now. If you want to teach him fruit loops work like a charmChat Icon

Actually he does do this...but I think what happens is that he sits on the bowl and starts going, before he can get his hands in between his legs to hold it down Chat Icon

ohh he's what I call a "holder" holds it to the very last second huh...okay suggestions are...cover it with 2 pieces of TP before he sits, this way if he misses it's hitting the TP...and second teach him to go standing up...(yay I'm about as helpful as a flat tire.) Or the potty seat below has a higher shield so he won't wee wee everywhere.

Agree with the potty seat. We have 2 one is a elmo one, the shield is so small its was useless. Then I got DS a car movie one. The shield is removable but its 3x the size of the elmo one so DS would sitck his pee pee down and I never had issues.

And to the OP, just think if your next one is a boy, peeing in public is so much easier and less stressful. I never have to worry about him touching the public potty, and on one occasion where there was no potty in sight, peeing outside in a bush was a sinch!

we had him start sitting when we potty trained him. I think it was 2-3 months after that, that he started standing on his own.

Re: Those of you with Potty Trained Boys...

DS still sits. We have been PTing for about 6 weeks. He never even asked to stand. And when he sits he scoots all the way back and aims for in the bowl.

Re: Those of you with Potty Trained Boys...

my son was trained a week after he turned 2 & it took him a while to stand because he's so short & didnt reach the potty until just recently (almost 3) at home he would sit & if we were out i would lift him up and he'd go just because of the yucky factor. I don't know what i will do w/ my daughter when she gets trained! how do you make little girls hover in public restrooms?!
