Those who BF and give bottles of breastmilk... Moms of newborns and BTDT
At like 4 to 6 weeks, how much did your DC take in the bottle?
We give Sasha a bottle of BM in the middle of the night, so I can sleep and DH can feed her.
I am wondering if how much she takes is indicative of how much she gets when I nurse her, and also how the amount she eats compared to others.
Now she is up to 4 oz. We started off with 2, and this has gradually increased.
ETA-- she appears to be gaining weight like a champ (averaging like 10 oz a week thus far), I wonder if we should give her MORE.

yeah, some time during the first 3 mo he went upto 4 oz in the AM feeding.... I can't recall when though

Is she finishing the bottles? When Eliza starts finishing a bottle, then DH adds more the next day for that feeding (he's her caretaker on the days I work).
She will take (at 4.5 months) a 6oz bottle at 9:30, but only a 5 oz bottle 12:30, then she'll pound a 7oz bottle at 3:30. So, lets say one day she totally finishes the 5oz bottle. Well, the next day, he'll give her 6oz in that bottle.

my dd was drinking about 3-4 ounces of BM by like 6 weeks..shes up to about 5 now at 9 1/2 weeks

we just upped it to 4, from 3.5. I don't think she finishes all the time. That's a good guideline though- thanks!

My DD took only about 2.5 oz for like the first 4 months

Chloe is 5 weeks old and we give her 1 bottle a night of BM. She usually takes around 4 ounces. Sometimes a little less, but mostly she drinks the whole thing down like a champ.

DD was never a big eater so she was taking 2-3 ozs for a long time. I would say you can't overfeed with BF according to my ped - so if you give her 3-4 and she wants more - I would offer it to her. It is really hard to judge b.c you really don't know what they are getting when you BF. I always kind of went by DD's preference she would let me know if I didn't give her enough. I just hated wasting it when she didn't drink what I did give her.
