Those who have the Optimum triple play - be honest...
how is the phone service? when the cable/internet goes out, do you lose the phone too?
how is the sound quality?
I was really holding out for Verizon Fios, but they're not available in my area yet and I cannot stand paying $138 a month to Cablevision (silver IO with DVR and internet) + $60 to Verizon for the phone! I am paying $80 PLUS more a month than I need to!

Re: Those who have the Optimum triple play - be honest...
I have it - never had a problem with the phone, everything is clear.
When power goes out - which is rare - we lose the phone, but we have cell phones, so we use that if we need to.

would you mind telling me how much you pay per month and what cable package you get? FM if you don't want to post it.
thanks!

Re: Those who have the Optimum triple play - be honest...
My mom has been frustrated with it. when the weather is bad they often lose all three things... and it drives my mom crazy when the phone is out. also , there are times when there is static on the line. they have the cable guy over at least 3 times in the past year.
but when all is working well, it's great!

Re: Those who have the Optimum triple play - be honest...
I am having a ton of problems with Verizon Fios right now. I have lost my phone 7 times in the past year and internet 3 times and counting! They have expanded too quickly and the techs are not all trained properly so it will sometimes take 3-4 different techs before a problem is fixed correctly. I can not wait to switch to optimum when we move in a couple of months. To be even if optimum is a couple of extra $ it is worth it to have the service I am paying for.

I've never had a problem with the phone, and actually i always seem to have the phone service and yet the TV or internet will be out. I used to have such problems with cable but in the last 2 years its been much better.

Re: Those who have the Optimum triple play - be honest...
nothing is perfect but we pay $166/mo. IO silver, one DVR box, internet and phone.
When you first sign up they give you the special rate for a year. Then it will go up.
I had some problems in the beginning a few years ago but I don't have any significant issues now at all.

Re: Those who have the Optimum triple play - be honest...
thanks for the feedback.
so in the 1st year we would pay $99 a month for all 3 services and then it would still be cheaper when the rates go up.
I am switching. if I don't, it's like flushing $ down the toilet

ITA - The phone is fine. Plus, if you have a cordless phone, if your power goes out you will lose your phone regardless. If you have a cell why would you need your house phone anyway?
I pay $150 bc I dont have DVR (we have TIVO) and only one box

One good reason is 911 service and children. Children typically don't have cell phones and cell phones won't tell you the address of the location you are at.
We have optimum voice. It's okay, not perfect. Sometimes when people call it says our number is out of service, which is strange. Or other times it will ring like 12 times and never go to voice mail. I'm not 100% happy with it, but the savings is great.

Re: Those who have the Optimum triple play - be honest...
I've had it for over a year now & have never had a problem. To be honest...I don't think the power has ever gone out for a more than a minute anyway here.
Sound quality is great, internet speed & cable...all great no problems.
I HAVE FiOS available in my area and have no interest at this point & time to change.

Re: Those who have the Optimum triple play - be honest...
we have the triple play pack the 99 a month deal its like 120 with all the taxes and crap they add- thats including one dvr the phone service is fine- it hasnt gone out once in the 6 months i have had it. setting up the triple play in the house was a nightmare- the techs werent the best- it took 4 different techs and 3 trips to the house to get it right. good luck

Re: Those who have the Optimum triple play - be honest...
We have it and love it. We've never lost any of the three for a significant amount of time.
We tried to switch to Fios but they stood us up three times for installation, and I was on hold with them for over an hour each time. The reps. were HORRIBLE and it turned out that our home wasn't wired for Fios, though they had gone door to door selling the service. They all seemed incredibly incompetant and no one knew what was going on. You couldn't pay me enough to switch to them. I think I complained to the BBB about them.

Re: Those who have the Optimum triple play - be honest...
I had ithe triple play at my old APT and now have FIOS, I can honestly say that FIOS Phone is great and came with a battery backup, FIOS internet is faster and the FIOS TV is clearer. I have every channel available 2 regular boxes and 2 DVR boxes for 179 a month.

We've had it for over two years now and have had only had a problem with the phone (not including power outages) once.
It wasn't for long either.

Re: Those who have the Optimum triple play - be honest...
We have never had a problem...however my mom had major problems. We are on the S Shore and my mom is more towards to N Shore. When I lived at home I got on the phone and had a major fight with them because the phone went out a few times. I was actually told by someone that I was "not to count on my house phone as my regular phone that I was supposed to have a cell phone as my regular phone and use the house phone as a back up" NO JOKE! W T F is that about
