you are like my health twin...lols. i did see a dr for my tmj, but i cannot sleep with a mouth guard, i gagged on it, and threw it out of my mouth in the middle of the night....never found it again.
to be honest, my ex bf was a physical therapist and he taught me how to 'unlock it" by pressing on a part of my jaw. perhaps a pt can help if you don't want to do the mouth piece. He taught me how and i have been fine ever since. Side note; first time he did it we were at Tangers and the look of horror, people thought he was strangling me in the parking lot, but once you hit the "sweet spot" it is fine.
ps....no gum!!
