Toddler Daycare Moms - advice needed

I could really use some advice.

My DD started a new daycare center, they are currently a "work in progress" let's call it, since they opened but clearly still have a lot of work to do (organization, finish some of the rooms), etc.

I'm trying to be that "casual relaxed mom", going with the flow but there are some things that are bothering me....

I was under the impression they were not going to open until they were licensed, but now realize they aren't licensed yet, although I was never told.

It bothers me that I was alerted to this, is that silly of me?

I feel badly for my DD that the center isn't completed yet, rooms still filled with boxes, I see very little progress each day.

Would that bother you? Or would you give it a few weeks or months?

Things like the Air Conditions being installed, haven't happenned yet, but I keep being told, soon, soon.

What's soon to you? Days? Weeks?

I don't know, I'm sure I'm overreacting, I guess I'm just looking for some advice from other Moms of Toddlers at daycare.

How much do you vocalize and how much do you keep to yourself?

Thanks so much Chat Icon

Is her room complete? aka box free?

How much of the incomplete-ness affects her?

How is the quality of care in the room? Is she happy?

I would be livid that I was told they were licensed when they weren't.

I could probably deal with things being done little by little as long as my DC was not affected however not being license would bother me. Isn't it illegal to operate without a license or is it something that they are definetelly getting just not officially processed.

I think this would bother me. DS is in Daycare more than he's home with me. I want him to be comfortable and I want his daily experiences to be un-interupted. If anything about this organization process affects him it would greatly bother me. Not to mention, I would be furious that they were operating without a license and didnt tell me prior to my child attending.

AJ's center wasn't even built yet when she started! LOL Chat Icon

They spent a month and a half in a rented hall with the bookshelves used to define 'rooms'.

Then they moved in and some stuff still had to be done, but we did have AC and license etc.

I would have been upset if they'd taken her without a license. But that's me. Otherwise, AJ could care LESS about the set up or what they had or didn't have. It didn't bother her. I was happy that the teachers gave her great attention. She was well cared for and happy. The rest worked itself out.

I agree, the licensing would worry me... there is nobody coming in and making sure everything is up to code, etc?

I'd be fine with the rooms being unfinished as long as it wasn't a hazard to any of the kids. DD's daycare has been there a long time and she's only been there a few weeks but so far there have been a few upgrades where some areas were a bit messy. Didn't bother me since her room and outdoor area was fine.

Thanks for all the feedback ladies!

What if they are in the process of getting licensed, but that the licensing office is just backed up? I think now after researching further that's the case.

I REALLY wish of course they would have told me this upfront but if they get licensed in a month or so, should I really make a big issue of it now?
