Re: Totally impossible decision...WWYD?

I would try for another. I know it would be tough....tougher than I could ever possibly imagine. But I know I never felt closer to my husband than when I was pregnant with his child...and I would want to be that close to him again.
On the other hand...being pregnant is tough....and I'm sure chemo is tough as well. I don't know what that would really be like...and if we could really truly handle it.

No one should ever have to make that decision.Chat Icon

Re: Totally impossible decision...WWYD?

My initial GUT reaction--have another child.

My Rational Reaction--Forget it...

But in this situation I don't know if I COULD be rational...

I am so very sorry that you and your family are going thru this!! I am sure times are especially tough right now; emotionally and maybe even financially, but as many of the other ladies have stated previously- if I were in your shoes I would definitely try for another. The heart prevails in this situation for me. Best of luck with your decision. Sending lots of prayers and hugs to you, your hubby and your son! I'm not in your situation and could not even begin to imagine what it is like to walk in your shoes for a day. I follow your family's story on your blog and have so much respect and admiration for you and your family and how you are handling things.

If I were to be in a similar situation, I do think I would follow my heart and try for another baby. I would hope that my DH would be around long enough for that DC to come into the world and share that joy with us, for however long we were blessed.

As always, you are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Re: Totally impossible decision...WWYD?

Thank you everyone.

Honestly, DH and I are split on this.

He says knowing that he's going to leave one child fatherless is hard enough without knowing that he would leave another behind.

I feel that for that very same reason it's important to give Logan a sibling.

I grew up with two very close friends who had lost their fathers at an early age.

One of them had two siblings, one of them was an only child and I saw how hard it was for the only child to deal with things without a strong support system.

And as far as not trying hardcore, our choice is FET or nothing because of the chemo. So it will be a "labor intensive" process and it will be devastating if it fails because it's our last hope.

But to me all of that outweighs what I would feel like the rest of my life wanting another child.

Like I said - totally impossible decision.

Thank you all for your insight, and of course, your ongoing support. Chat Icon

Re: Totally impossible decision...WWYD?

after reading what you just wrote.. i change my answer to Go for it.. If God does not want this child born believe me its not going to happen.. You have the embryo's use them and follow your heart.. You will be the one to live with the choice and you seem to have a burning desire.. Is Dh really against it or is this just one of his feelings on it.. Keep talking about it and praying on it and the answers will come.. I see a new out look on it myself now after reading your last post.. So this can happen to him too. or anyone..

ETA: I forgot to mention.... YOU are an amazing woman any child is lucky to have you as a mother God Bless you and keep you and your family safe..

Hands down........I would want to get pregnant again. I think it would be great for your other child to have a sibling and I would want to have another living part of my DH around if god forbid he wasn't with me anymore.

I would go for it as you said he could have years and years, I always think babies bring such hope and joy. My dh didn't want another because of his medical condition but we did and he adores her so!!

I changed my mind too. I originally out no, but after your last post its sounds like something you really want. If you can get dh on board I would go for it.

Re: Totally impossible decision...WWYD?

I am so sorry you are going through this.

If you're asking what I would do, the truth is I have no idea how you feel or what you're going through. I don't know if it's safe for me to say for even myself, but I probably wouldn't have another child. I get stressed enough with my infant now, but add the other stresses of an illness to the mix, and for me, it would probably be too much.

But I am not you. I don't know you or what you can handle - that I'm sure will take a lot of soul searching on your part.

Whatever you decide, I wish you nothing but luck and health...
