Town of Smithtown disposal of paint

Can someone tell me how they dispose paint cans? I went to the hazardous waste event yesterday. After waiting a half hour in line on the road just to get to the entrance off the road, security officer told us there was a two hour wait once we enter past him. My husband had to be at work an hour and a half later. We had to turn around and leave, as I saw many others do. Car was packed with everything to bring. Needless to say, I was p$ssed. All I heard about was advertising for this and wasted our time. Thank you Smithtown. Ive already put dried paint to curb and nobody takes it. Friends located in other towns can drop off daily during certain times. Im at a loss with all we pay, the time spent yesterday for nothing and still don’t know what to do with it.

To dispose of paint cans, you need to go to the hazardous waste event you mentioned. They only do it 2x a year which is why it gets so crowded and they do it starting at 7 am. I told my husband to go at 7am. He went at 9am and had to wait about an hour.
