Town Soccer cut off date

If your child is on the town soccer team, what is the cut off date.

Here the cut off is July 31st---you have to be 4 by July 31st. DS#2's bday is in November and I feel so bad for him...he has to wait 2 years to start soccer (his brother started this year). I just think its stupid that they don't use the school age cutoff so that he could be in sports with kids from his class.

I think they do it this way to ensure their development is on the same level....physically and mentally. Still sad for you little guy though

Our town we can't register DD#1 (4 in June) until the spring. They must be registered for Kindergarten. So if you hold your child back a year (DD has some children who will be 5 in Oct and Nov in her preschool class) they can't sign up for the fall either since they are not registered for Kindergarten.

There is another group that I ended up signing DD up through that I heard about from another parent it is open to children who were born in 2007 there isn't a month that they list.

I have my son in East Meadow where the cut off is July 31st. Works for him - he makes the cut off by 6 days. I put him there last year because it was one of the few where he made the cut off only being 3 yrs old but isn't just clinic...he loves games. Most soccer programs do go by the school year by me....East Meadow doesn't for some reason.

Are you near Levittown? I think their cut off is later school year and maybe even Merrick's snoopy too. Bellmore just started this year a 4 yr old program - you have to be preK age - I think they said they will be running it by school year.

Def check out the island trees soccer club.. my DD always missed the date but when I spoke to the head, they made exceptions.
