I have bought ground beef from Target, and it has that same smell. I think they must use a boatload of preservatives or something, since both stores have really long expiration dates on their ground beef!
Ugh thats another place I won't buy meat from. My cousin found maggots under the ground beef when she opened it to start cooking it 
OMG that is freaking disgusting. Not much disgusts me-but that is AWFUL!

Not to derail the TJ's thread, but ITA about Target meat. I feel like every single person I know, myself included, has a "gross meat from Target" story. I don't know if they have bad refrigeration or they let it sit out or something, but meat shouldn't smell like that when you open it.
