Transporting a car from Florida to NY
Has anyone hired a company to ship their car from Florida to NY or vice versa? I am trying to look into this for my parents so they avoid the drive. Thanks.

Check with the moving company that they are using. I know that my parents did this when we moved from NC to NY.

Yes, we've done it twice (FL to MA) - once with my high school car and once with my dad's car, both belonged to my grandparents in FL and once they decided to get rid of their cars, they would send them up north to family rather than selling them because it saved us the money of having to buy a car anyway. I believe it cost between 500-1K (because one car sent north in the mid-90's, the other sent north in perhaps 2002-3?). It was very easy.

my grandma does this- it's very common
the cost has gone up in the last few years- but it shouldn't be more then $1k
but this is the time big month for the "snowbirds" to come home- so I would call a few places
I would just google Car transport- FL to NY

Thanks for all the responses.
I got some prices and the lowest was $670 online, which is too much. My dad wants to take Amtrak to Virginia and drive all the way home from Virginia to LI from there and I am worried about him doing this drive alone. I thought if I could find a good rate, that it would change his mind.

we use a company at work called Professional Drivers Corporation- they are fully bonded- plus they will drive pets down and/or people as requested

the other option is taking the Auto Train from Amtrak- I think you might have to pick it up in Virginia- not 100% sure though

You definitely can find shipping companies on the internet. There is the Autotrain as well that leaves right outside of Orlando and arrives in VA, outside of DC

My mom just did this West Palm to NY. Paid much more.This is a great price for this season.

Plycon Transportation has fully enclosed auto transport trucks. Ive never used them but I know they offer that service and I hear great things. Good luck!

my mom used a company that put her car on a train and delivers it to your door. I think she paid $800. If you want the info let me know and I'll give her a call

it might be better for your parents to take the amtrak to Virginia - and you grab a flight to DC - it is cheap to get one way flights there then help them finish the drive
that is what my mom would do with my grandparents

My parents did. Sent their car from NY to their place in Florida. Think it cost $800. I would google and price check some places
