Tried the miracle blanket last night... (with sleeping question)
After all of the rave reviews about the miracle blanket, I went out and bought one last night from Target.
Loey HATED it!
I put it on him when he was calm and sleepy and tried rocking him to bed with it on... he FREAKED OUT! He started violently kicking his legs, turning red, and was screaming his little heart out!
I tried one more time after his last feeding before bed and the same thing happened. I tried doing it with his legs OUT also and same thing happened.
Could he just hate being swaddled? I don't know what to do to get him to sleep better!
He is still sleeping on my chest and I feel like that's the only way we all get any sleep. But I feel like a bad mommy because when he does middle of the night feedings, I just let him latch on and then I end up falling back asleep. He's waking to eat every 2-3 hours. He's 6 weeks old. During the day, he'll sleep in the swing, on the bed next to me, on the couch next to me, etc... but at night it's a different story!
Any words of advice?

Does he take a paci?
It took my boys a few times to not cry when put in the miracle blanket. I also notice that when I try to rock Tyler while he's in it he seems uncomfortable.
What I do is feed Tyler half of his bottle. Put him in the Miracle Blanket. Sit in the glider with him, in the dark (with the sound machine on) and give him the last half of his bottle. He almost always falls asleep while eating it, and then I put him right in the crib.
If the MB doesn't work for you then I would suggest trying to put him to sleep in either the swing, a bouncy, the soothing motions glider if you have one. You need your sleep and I'm sure with him sleeping on your chest you must be exhausted.
With both of my boys it took some time for them to get used to sleeping in the bassinet.
Oh, and another thing - do you have a sleep positioner? That always helped too - they feel nice and snug in it.

Re: Tried the miracle blanket last night... (with sleeping question)
When I look back at what went on at that age, I think I tried and tried to get DD to sleep, but she just didn't want to. It was her awake time. She would finally go to sleep around 3-4 am. usually in the swing or bouncer.
As far as the Miracle Blanket......I started her on that at 10 weeks. I would wrap her up and rock her to sleep. Sometimes, I would keep her legs out and strap her into the swing to get her to sleep. That swing was the only way I got sleep, I swear. Maybe try that.

He does take a paci... but he screams whenever it falls out!
I've tried nursing him to sleep, but as soon as he hits the bassinet he wakes up! I even tried to have him sleep in the snuggle nest IN our bed and he still wakes up screaming (no matter how gentle I am when I put him down).
He does the same thing in the swing at night... I swear, it's like he knows it's night time!
I actually sleep really well with him on my chest now, I just feel like I'm doing him a disservice - KWIM? Like I'm creating bad habits for him...
We have the arms-reach cosleeper (but are using it as a bassinet)... we haven't even attempted the actual crib yet!
I go back to work tomorrow and I'm just so nervous about how all of this is going to work out - and I feel like a bad mommy for having him sleep on me and for not fulling waking up for his night feedings

Will he sleep on his side? It seems like he just prefers being on his tummy.

Hmm... I haven't tried that yet!
Maybe I'll try him on his side during the day today in the bassinet and see how it goes.

When you put him down and he cries do you pick him right up? I would try soothing him with him still laying in the bassinet. Ex: Put your hand firmly on his belly while rubbing his forehead above his eyebrows. Also, keep putting the paci back in to soothe him. Eventually he will fall asleep and will be in a deep enough sleep to not care when it falls out.
Also, while I am rubbing his head, and belly - I like to "Shush" him - close to his face so he hears it.

He still SCREAMS and screams. It breaks my heart! His whole face turns red and he screams so loudly that he almost gets out of breath...

This was me & every breastfeeding mom I've spoken too. Waking every 2 hours and then falling asleep on the couch with your baby attached to your boob. It still happens to me, I swear the rhythmic nursing makes me sleepy!!
Once the feeding moved to 3-4 hours we had better success. DD HATED the bassinet and wanted nothing to do with it until about 8 weeks old, we lived on the couch.
Ofcouse, now DD is fine with the bassinet and hates the crib and Im doing all the fight over again ....

Really? That's comforting to hear!
When did your little one start sleeping longer?
During the day, Loey can go 3-3.5 hours between feedings. At night it's morelike every 3 hours, but sometimes it's every 2 (I think because I fall asleep, so he's only getting one breast).
I mean, I don't mind how things are going now... as long as I can know that in the future he's going to sleep longer and somewhere besides on me - KWIM?

Re: Tried the miracle blanket last night... (with sleeping question)
Santino always hated any kind of swaddling and was a terrible sleeper for the first 2 months (he still does not sleep longer for 3-4 hours without waking to feed)! I swear if it wasn't for my husband who was a nervous nelly and always monitoring us he would have slept on my chest a lot more lol. Why don't you try having him sleep in the swing or the bouncy a few hours at night. It's not like he is sleeping for too many hours straight yet so it's okay to have him sleep in there. All and all, do whatever you can do to get some rest for both of you at this point. Just make sure when he is bfing and you fall asleep that you have pillows around you so he can't fall off the bed (that's what I do. Also, get Glowworm, Santino loves to look at his glowworm and in the beginning it helped him fall asleep many nights!
And it def gets easier. At the 8 week mark santino started sleeping in his pack and play next to the bed and although he was still up a lot to feed it was more solid sleeping. Now he is still up alot but he eats and goes right back down in his pack and play so it's not as tiring.
