TTC Question for those who took the pill..... if you experienced ladies don't mind!

For those of you who were on the pill, how long did it take after you went off to conceive?

Also, did you have period problems BEFORE starting the pill? I had bad period problems before starting the pill and was on it for nearly 10 years. I am wondering what this experience was like for others in a similar situation.

what do you mean by period problems? my period was not like clockwork before the piill but it wasnt crazy either. the pill just helped to make it exact every month.

i was on it for about 12 years. came off the pill in october 2008. november my period came but a week early. december it was back to normal. conceived in january.

Hi! I was on the pill for 15 years straight, no break. Came off the pill and got preggo with my DC within a month.

Afterwards I nursed for a year, then went right back on the pill, due to irregular cycles. I was on for 18 months, came off and was preggo within 2 months with my second (I am due in Dec).

Everyone is different, of course, but my DR said that the pill (or being on it for so long) wouldnt inhibit my TTC. It was more of: am I ovulating each cycle, and am I BDing during the week/2 week stretch the you can get preggo if ovulating.

I was on the pill for 10 years and then when I was TTC it took 2 years but it was not because of the pill...it was because I didn't know I had severe endometriosis and a polyp on my ovary. After DC#1 was born, I went back on the pill for a little over 2 years and I literally got pregnant with DC#2 the month after I stopped taking it. I didn't have period problems before going on the pill.

I was never on the pill, but my friend went off a few months before she was going to start ttc to regulate her body and then got pregnant on her first try (was prob off for a good 5 months before trying)!
Everyone is different though so keep this in mind, Good luck!

My period was totally irregular before I went on the pill, it would come anywhere from every 36 days to every 3 months. I was on the pill for 6 years and was still a little off, period came every 36 days, but like clockwork. When I stopped the pill I had 2 normal 32 day cycles, one 45 day cycle, then another normal one, followed by a BFP.

jeez - we have wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy too much in common.

i was put on the pill at 15'ish because of ovarian cysts as well - to shrink them. While my periods weren't 30 days long - they were debilitating...to the point of me curling up in a ball and wanting to have surgery to remove my girl parts every other month (no joke).

After being on the pill for more than 12 years - i came off it in March. I was ovulating by April and we were successful by September.

It's all hit or miss honestly - a close friend - she was on the pill for 15 years and didn't ovulate for 9 months...that 10th month - she DID ovulate and became pregnant. It's different for everyone....

I was PETRIFIED when i came off the pill that my period would be as bad as it was back then...but - thank GOD it wasn't....

Thanks for your input! My plan for now is to not worry until there's a reason to worry (easier said than done!) but I do appreciate reading about other people's experiences.

btw- my reflux issue is feeling MUCH better via prilosec!

I had really bad cramps throughout the month and that is why I originally went on the pill. I was on the pill for about 5 years and then stopped when were TTC. It took about 3 months for a BFP.

It took us nine months to conceive. I never was like clockwork before the pill, but I was a mess after the pill. My cycles were like 28 days, 48 days, 43 days, 40 days, etc. I went off the pill last July. Finally in January, I was back to a 28 day cycle. We got pregnant in February.

With DS, 2nd cycle; with 1st cycle.

I have wacky cycles - anywhere from 32-60+ days - so I had to temp / chart and use OPKs to determine ovulation days both times. I didn't use either the first month we were trying with DS, which is why I didn't get pregnant (we were totally off as to the dates). As soon as I used it, preggo - both times.

I think everyone is different. I didnt even know there could be problems after you came off it since my cycles didnt change at all. I was always regular on and off it.

I stopped it in November just to get off it but we didnt start TTC until May.

I had long cycles before the pill - anywhere from 36 - 45 days. I was on the pill for 10 years. When I went off, it took 52 days to get my period. I got my BFP the following cycle

I was on it for 10 years almost. when i first started my periods they were irregular and very heavy. then they got better. In my late teens the cramps got terrible, i would bleed really heavy and it would last for over a week.

i had went to the dr..i think i was about 20 then...with pains in my side and they did all sorts of test and found a cyst on my right ovary. they suggested birth control to shrink it and it would also regulate my cycles. which it did and i stayed on various brands for 10 years.

I went off in FEB 08 and the first 3 cycles were fine. 4th cycle went to hell and i had a 45 day cycle, but then it started working itself out after that. They did remain light though.. i never went back to heavy bleeding or cramping.

I was on the pill for 10+ years and had such bad cysts that for the last 2 years my dr. did not want me to even get a period b/c I would develop a cyst during the days I was off B.C...... I was so scared to go off b/c I was in such pain. Fortunately I did not have one cyst while I was trying to conceive.

It took us about four months to conceive.

I was on the pill for about 12 years, not for any issues other than birth control.

I went off the pill in Oct 2008 and my cycle was right on schedule, maybe a day late and we concieved in early Jan 2009.

I never had any issue before going on the pill, I just went on as birth control. When I went off for the first time we got preggo the 3rd month, our first month of OPKs. The second time around was not so easy. We started actively trying right away and just weren't getting pregnant. We ultimately got pregnant our first month of IUI- for a total of 10 months.

It's just so frustrating how it's different for everyone! I wish there was a definitive answer for when I'll get pregnant! I wish it was like setting a wedding date!

My friend got pregnant 2 months after coming off the pill another 6 months everyone is sooo different

I had irregular periods (every 5-7.5 weeks) before the pill. I was on the pill for 9 years and got pregnant the first month after I went off the pill. Good luck!

Off the pill i had VERY crazy periods. Sometimes 50+ days. There would be a month or 2 w/o it. I went on BCP Feb 06 and off Jan 08. We got preg Aug 08 (ended in mc/) and now preg again from Feb 09

My periods were pretty ok after coming off BCP

Before I went on BCP my period was all funky. I would get it for a couple of days, then not have it for 2 weeks, then get it again, then not have it for 45 days.

I was on it for 10 years.

Came off in January 2007...waited a few months to make sure my cycles were regulating. Got pg on the 1st try in April.

This time around got pg while still on BCP
