Twins/kids with b-days very close together (or moms who had this growing up)
Yes, I am thinking WAY ahead here lol...
The girls share the same b-day, 3 years apart. I do b-days up big...not necessarily with $$, but with detail, personalization, I just have made DD#1 feel like it's the day created just for her.
Next year, she'll start sharing her b-day with her baby sister. DD#1 is very mature and smart so she "gets it", but I want to continue to ensure that SHE feels special and her day, and that baby feels just as special too! We have spun it how she's soooo lucky to share that day with her sister, etc...so she is fine with it, but still...
Any cute/special things you've done or had done for you when you were a child if you had b-days close to your sibling's?
I plan on making them separate b-day cakes (god help me ), singing to them individually, etc....but any other cute little touches?

Re: Twins/kids with b-days very close together (or moms who had this growing up)
I share a bday with my brother (he's 2 years younger), and I'm trying to think of what my mom did. I know we each had our own cakes...my mom always wanted us to feel like it was our own day too...but as we got older, we wanted to have the same cake.
Maybe you could have two separate dessert tables at their parties? With all of their favorite things, so they feel they have a part in that? (Obviously M won't be doing that next year, but down the road?)
I guess I'm really no help.

My twins are only 3 months old, so we haven't done anything yet. But, I do plan on each having their own personalized cake. They will probably share parties at first. But, since they are a boy and a girl, I will probably have to have seperate ones when they are older. We'll see... I think it is just important to make them each feel special. Maybe each one can have their own special time with mom and dad doing something they choose.

maybe open presents up at different times so thhey each have their own special time. or when they are a bit older have them each share their bday but get another special day that week to do what ever they want, like go to the zoo or the movies and make that day all about them.

My sister and I share the same birthday (but 11 years apart). She never knew how to have an individual birthday.
Me... well I guess I was mature enough to understand. Kind of!!!!
When she was younger, we would enphasis on her. We both had our favorite cake. MY cake that I liked and HER cake that SHE liked (she actually had a pastrie that she REALLY liked and we put her candles on the pastrie).
Than when she was a bit older (8+ yo), we shared the same cake.

my brother and i are 4 days apart but always shared birthday parties. i am still disgruntled over it at 35 years old. i would do everything in my power to not do this to my children ever... but that is just me.

Re: Twins/kids with b-days very close together (or moms who had this growing up)
I didn't know what it was like until I moved out of the house to have an individual birthday. My sister was born 5 days after my first birthday and my other little sister was born the same day as the first sister, only 6 years later. We have always shared our birthday parties.
I don't know what the solution is, but honestly I never really minded. I never knew any different!
Good luck though. I hope you find something!

I'm a twin & don't remeber doing anything different or special. We just celebrated together as twins, 1 cake & all.
I never felt slighted but maybe i can add it to the list of things i bother my mother about
I'm a twin too, and never had my own birthday as a kid. To boot, our birthday is December 28. We always felt shafted as kids

We were twins & we both felt special on our birthday because it was our birthday. Birthdays were (still are) huge in my family.
I never felt slighted because it was someone else's. There was no need to sign Happy Birthday to each of us. It just was what it was.

I just had my twins party....they are only 1 so it hard to say.
I made them each a cake.
As they get older, my hope is that they never feel slighted by having one party. We always do birthdays up big so I figure as long as I put equal emphasis on it they will not feel slighted (thats my plan....hopefully it works!!)
