Tying tubes during c-section
How much time does this add to the surgery?
When did you sign off on having the procedure?
Any difference in the recovery?

Re: Tying tubes during c-section
Im having this done. I can answer two of the three questions. I asked the dr about recovery and he told me there is no difference in recovery/recovery time. My csection is a scheduled one. It was scheduled last month for this coming February and i already signed off on the paperwork regarding the tubal.
As for how much time it adds to the surgery that i cant answer. But i have an appt tomorrow I can ask for you

Re: Tying tubes during c-section
I'll be having this done as well and my OB told me max 5min extra onto the surgery.
No additional recovery - he said I will not know any different other than never getting pregnant again.
As for the paperwork - it can even be done after the section unless you're on Medicaid, in which case it must be done PRIOR to the procedure to confirm it's not forced sterilization.
The after the procedure part I know to be true because they asked me if they were doing one during my 2nd section and I was in the process of getting the spinal block - unlikely they would have handed me pen and paper right then if I had said yes

Re: Tying tubes during c-section
Unlike the pp I was told the paperwork needed to be signed BEFORE I even got on the table. I dont have a medicaid insurance so just ask you dr how they go about this. I do know my friend just had baby number three and wanted to have her tubes tied. The dr refused to do it because paperwork wasnt signed prior to her surgery. Just a heads up

Must depend on the hospital then - good advice on being sure and asking your particular dr
