UGH, boy names are so hard!!!!!!!

We have less than 2 months to go and we just cannot agree on a name!!

It's so tough--we don't want a Joseph or William or Michael, we want something a little more unique, but it's so much easier to do that with girls' names...

We had a list of 4 girl names that were on standby for this pregnancy, but no such luck! Chat Icon

We're in the same boat. DD was named the minute we knew she was a girl.

With DS, we can't even talk about it. We can agree on anything. Chat Icon

We had a really hard time deciding too but you'll settle on something.

My trainer has a boy named Corwyn. Just throwing it out there. It's unique but not far out there unique.

Re: UGH, boy names are so hard!!!!!!!

We are having the opposite problem with a girls name. Chat Icon It was so easy to name our son..we both liked Ethan..we agreed, and that was it. Now...we can't agree, and the one we do agree on (Isabelle), we can't figure out a middle name.

Some other boy names we considered were Aiden, Lucas, Logan and Nathaniel. I'm like you..I wanted something not too common, but also not unheard of.

That's exactly where we are.

I absolutely LOVE the name Ethan, but DH won't even discuss it...he can't stand it (please don't take offense, moms of Ethans! I think it's a great name!). Same with Nathan.

So I said, "Fine, bring something to the table and we'll discuss it".

So far he's suggested:

1. Malcolm Xavier...this way, he can sign his name "Malcolm X. Rivera" Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

2. Riley. Too bad our daughter's name is Ryleigh. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

See what I'm dealing with here? It's all a big joke!

Re: UGH, boy names are so hard!!!!!!!

We were in the same boat for a long time. It wasn't until our 3d sono that we could agree. I guess getting a clear picture of his face helped.

Before that we had hit a dead end. DH hated every name I suggested but wouldn't suggest any names in its place. I was ready to kill him lol.

I hope a name that you both love comes to you soon.Chat Icon

That really is helpful. We actually went for a 3D sonogram about 2 weeks ago, and his face is butt-up against the top of my uterus, so he was all squished Chat Icon No matter how many times I turned over, got up to walk around, jumped up and down, he'd just burrow back down there. So we have a vague idea of what he looks like, but not enough to really help with names...unless we call him Squish Chat Icon

Re: UGH, boy names are so hard!!!!!!!

We've had the SAME issue here. DH's ONLY suggestion was Walter (my dad's name). blech

I wanted Jeremy- DH hates it.

We are likely going with Anthony Jr. and call him Tony or TJ (for Tony Jr.- my DH has NEVER gone by Anthony).

I'll admit I'm not happy with settling on a name by "default".Chat Icon I also never thought I'd ever have a kid named Anthony.

It was hard for us to pick a name for DD too!!!!! I feel that naming a baby is harder than carrying him/her for 10 months lol Good luck and just keep searching and one will eventually stick out!

Same problem... my husband likes common/traditional and I like not common but nothing too out there. So difficult with boys because you have to consider nicknames also!

If your DH is looking for something close to your DD's name...I have a friend whose son's name is Rider....it's unique but not totally out there! Good luck!

I don't think he is, really--he just has nothing to offer in the way of boys' names, so he has to make a big joke about it Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: UGH, boy names are so hard!!!!!!!

i agree - i had such a hard time with boy names!!!
we traditionally name our children after the grandparents (greek) so i never really thought about it bc i assumed i would never have the luxury of choosing my own name.
DS #1 is named after my FIL (Thomas). My dad is Isidore Jerry (not my fave name, but really want to name after my dad) so i was all set if i was having ONE more boy (plus i was set with 2 girls names bc of my mom and MIL)...
well im having 2 boys!! so DH and i had to choose another name...out of tens of names, we only agreed on 1 (Owen John)! then we made the mistake of sharing it with some family/friends and apparently everyone has an opinion Chat Icon - but we have decided that we dont care as long as we are happy with it.

ETA: i love the name Jacob! but DH wouldnt hear of it...since we will call one of the twins Jerry and our last name starts with "Z", he said he only wanted one "Jay-Z" Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: UGH, boy names are so hard!!!!!!!

Boys names were an absolute nightmare for us to agree on! We finally agreed on Chase. He wanted Nathaniel, I just couldn't do it. I just didn't like it.
Some of the others I can think of:
Cooper
Jameson
Grayson
Alex
Parker
Trent
Dean
Harrison
Jude
Emmitt
Elliot
Benjamin
Deacon
