Update**Low progesterone question~freaking out
Update~We went for a sono this morning and we saw the little one and everything looked great! The HB was 185 bpm and measuring 9 wk 4 days even though based on my LMP I am 8 weeks 6 days. The Dr said everything looks wonderful. I am going to be on the Procheive until 12 weeks which is 3 more weeks and then they said it will be fine to stop using it. They did do a repeat blood test to see where my progesterone level was today. So I will find out on Monday. I am going back on the 19th for another sonogram to make sure things are progressing as they should be. I am so relieved. Thank you for all of your support and encouragement and personal stories. it really helped!!!
--------------------------------------------------------
I am currently 8 weeks 4 days pregnant! I went for my first OB appointment on Friday July 24th (which is almost 2 weeks ago). I had a ton of bloodwork taken. I just got a phone call this afternoon from one of the nurses that my progesterone level was low. It was an 8 when they want it over 15 and I am going to have to start progesterone supplements/suppostories every morning. She called them in the the pharmacy. I will start it tomorrow morning. I am going in on Monday (the 10th) for a sonogram to make sure everything is ok.
Naturally I am freaking out! First off I feel like I should have gotten a phone call sooner! Does it take this long to get those kinds of results back? I am freaking out that I already lost the baby even though I have not had any bleeding at all. I have actually been pretty sick-very nauseaos and throwing up. Has anyone else experience this? Is it going to be ok? I feel like it is too late.

Re: Low progesterone question~freaking out
it's highly unlikely that you lost the baby. progesterone helps the baby "stick," for lack of a better term, and early losses are sometimes caused by low progesterone.
however, progesterone fluctuates day by day, hour by hour, and it's possible that it was able to rise on its own. it's a good thing that you are starting the suppositories, though, just in case.

Thanks for the kind and encouraging words! I am still crazed about the whole thing and I think the most aggrivating part is that I could have started the supplements a week ago but was just notified today!

Re: Low progesterone question~freaking out
I had low progesterone too, I was at 8 or 9 at first too. I was put on prometrium and just about a month ago was finally taken off.
Your baby will be fine, I to was completely scared at first b/c it was something I had never heard about having to worry about for. Don't look anything on the internet, I did and it scared me even more.
There are actually a ton of girls on here that were put on supplements too.
(Also, w/ MS your doctor does see you a bit more in the beginning. Mine did)

Re: Low progesterone question~freaking out
My doctor always told me that they want to see you with MS because it is a good sign and means your body is doing what it is supposed to do.
Take the progesterone, but try not to panic

At how many weeks did you start the supplements?

My progesterone was 5!!! I used the supplements everyday like clockwork. I am happy and thankful to say I have a 14 month old healthy son.

Just curious, did those with low progesterone suffer less MS and other symptoms?
