Upgrading Electric
Do you need a CO after upgrading? DH and I are in negotiations on a house that has upgraded to 200 amps and we are getting conflicting info from people. Some are saying you need a CO and LIPA gets involved but my parents upgraded a few years ago and only have a certificate. We just want to make sure it was done right and up to code. Can any shed some light on this topic?

Re: Upgrading Electric
I guess it can vary by town but when we upgraded our electric we did not need a CO. We did need to get an electrical inspector in who gives a certificate once it passes inspection then we had to fax that to LIPA and someone from LIPA had to come to the house to inspect the outside lines and lock the box.

Re: Upgrading Electric
i would call the town office. im buying a house in the town of hempstead and my lawyer said upgrading electric required a C/O. ask the town...they're great at answering these questions.
what you also may want to do is visit the town office and request to see the building plans. then compare the layout to the current layout and that will tell you if there were any other changes that require a c/o.
