USPS postage question
What happens if I dropped a bill in a sidewalk mailbox, with a 39 cent stamp? Will they return to sender, or just deliver it?
Needless to say, my husband is a little mad at me.

RTS (return to sender) for additional postage.

ballz. How quickly does that happen? And are they going to cancel out my 39 cent stamp?

Re: USPS postage question
Seriously, now I am mad. I waited at that stupid box for 20 minutes- the mail man wasn't on time. I guess my husband needs to call the credit card company and explain. This blows.

Re: USPS postage question
It comes back with a printed stamp saying insufficient postage. You can add the additional postage and resend it.

Re: USPS postage question
You can pay your credit card online if you need to. Or call them up, and they'll take payment over the phone.

Re: USPS postage question
Don't lose hope yet - a few times I've had the mail get delivered anyway, but the recipient had to pay the extra $.02. Usually it's returned for insufficient postage, but 3 times that I can think of recently it worked the other way (and twice someone did it to me, so I was the one who had to pay - I remember that clearly!). Good luck!

Re: USPS postage question
Don't wait for it to come back, sometimes it takes a lot longer than a few days. I would either pay online or call the CC company and ask them for the mailing address - you can send a check with a letter and have it applied to your account.

Re: USPS postage question
argh! The problem is, IF they decide to deliver it, then the CC company will cash both the original and the replacement, or the on line pay... Darn it. So, if I don't have it back by Thursday, I should assume it's been delivered? This blows.

Re: USPS postage question
Pay the bill online.
Put a stop on the check from your bank. That way if it does get delivered the CC company won't be able to cash it.
ETA: Call the CC company and let them know what's going on so you don't get charged for sending a cancelled check.

Thta's another $30 charge. I am going to call the CC company tonight- I'm not sure when the payment is due- it may not even be late, my DH is a worrier like that. I will explain the situation, and make sure thewy don't charge me a late fee. They had better- he's always on time.
