VBAC moms
Can you please tell me your experinces with a VBAC. I would really like to try to have one considering I felt that I was kind of forced into having a scheduled c-section with my son because the doctor insisted he was too big. He was 8lbs 14 oz. I have not even mentioned it to my doc yet. Were your docs open to you wanting a VBAC?
Thanks so much!

Re: VBAC moms
I know not many dr's like to do them. Mine told me they might pass legislation in NY making it much harder to do b/c of malpractice suits.
I'd definitely ask your dr if this is what you are considering

Re: VBAC moms
I'm thinking about having a VBAC with this second baby- not sure though.
Different things make you either a good candidate or not for a VBAC.
- length of time between pregnancies - circumstances of the first delivery - age of mom
What are your circumstances?
I will have only 16 months between deliveries so I am not a "good" candidate, although my Dr. said it was up to me.
I went for a second opinon and he said based on how DS was positioned I only have a 30-40% chance of delviering vaginally with this baby. So, I'm thinking why bother?

Re: VBAC moms
I had a successful VBAC with my DD. She was born exactly (almost to the day!) 2 years after my son. My doctor was very supportive every step of the way. Never once even said the words "repeat c/s" to me. I had a c/s with my first because he was breech. Turns out he was a big baby too, but that had nothing to do with it.
Here are a few things my doc said had to happen in order for me to be the perfect candidate:
I HAD to go into labor on my own (no inducing).
DD had to turn (she was breech up until 36 weeks), my OB would not do a version to turn her.
He monitored her size closely, if she got upwards of 8+ pounds, he wanted to lean towards doing a c/s.
I was a good candidate because I did not have a stalled labor or failure to progress with my first. These are two things that work against a successful VBAC because they would more than likely happen again.
Every worked out perfectly. She arrived 10 days early, all on her own, and I pushed for 3 hours and she was born. Best thing I ever did. I was so happy I had the support of my OB and my DH.

Re: VBAC moms
I was upset when i had to have a c-section...i pushed for 5.5 hours and he wasn't descending any further so they decided to do the surgery. It turned out the reason why he wasn't descending was b/c the cord was wrapped round his neck twice!
I would love to do a VBAC (on some days) but i don't think it's a possibility for me!
