Vendar RAVE - Mark Lewis - Tax Greivance Co.
We just received our letter in the mail yesterday and we are receiving $2,267.20 tax savings. 
We couldn't believe it, I still can't believe it.  We are soooo happy and so luck. If you haven't tried Mark Lewis or any other company that does this, you should try. The process was about a year, but we won and won a lot. Thank you Mark Lewis, thank you!
As soon as you buy a house, you should grieve your taxes. We have owned for two years and I wish we had done this the first year, so we would have seen this savings quicker. But since we have bought the value of our house has dropped about $40,000. So this grievance is well due us IMO.
Go to www.MarkLewis.com and apply online. You have to pay half of what they win, if they win.

Are they only in Suffolk? From their website, they appear to be. Anyone have any luck with a company in Nassau?

that's great that you won!
but keep in mind it is very easy to do yourself and you get to keep ALL the money that the grievance won you. you don't have to use someone and pay them half. we did it as soon as we moved in and it was very easy.

Congratulations!! That's great! So are you going to buy plants with all that dough? 
For my own situation, I'd be worried about the opposite. We're trying not to draw attention to ourselves because with Star, our taxes are only $4700.

Can you do them at any time or do you have to wait until January? We just moved in our house this month and would like to grieve our taxes as soon as we can.

I wish we were paying $4700 for our taxes. I woulnd't grieve them either.

Yup, I know you can do this yourself, but I just didn't know how to go about it and really didn't have the time to do the work myself. But I knew it could be done.

That is correct. But the savings amount always stays the same. So even though are taxes will go up next year, as always, we will still have this savings.

I believe they do all of LI, but I'm not sure.
Mark Lewis only does Suffolk. He has a counterpart in Nassau County he recommends. I forgot his name though. I am going to give it a shot once our new tax bill comes in a few weeks.

you go to your town hall and ask for the forms, if you do it yourself just a warning I heard its pretty much impossible unless your retired. I know the mayor of our town and he recommended HIGHLY not to do it yourself but hire someone since it is only half of what you win for one year.

I did it on my own for Nassau. I called Mark Lewis and he gave me the nassau company. I called them after I got the offer from nassau and he thought he couldn't do any better. He told me to take the offer. It was easy.

it's not impossible at all! DH and i both work and he took care of the paperwork.
we just got the paperwork, filled it out, called with any questions we had and sent it in. there is nothing "tricky" about it. 
neither one of us knows ANYTHING about real estate/laws/taxes/etc. the forms truly are not confusing or hard. and if you're confused, just call and ask the questions and they'll tell you what to do.
