Are people really that concerned with the Boardy Barn??
I think there may be other things to worry about.
It's just ironic that a place of that nature is requiring it.
I just read he offering a college tuition raffle incentive for those 12-17 getting the vaccine.
Yup it is disgusting how low they are stooping to have people take this vaccine. He truly wants full control of everyone.
You do know other states are doing the exact same thing, right? And many other incentives in other states too. NO ONE IS FORCING YOU TO GET THE VACCINE - so how does that equate to control??? (Rhetorical question - please do not answer)

It’s not just the boards barn. This option is available to any venue in NY.
How is it ok to do this when the vaccine doesn’t have full FDA approval?
You know the FDA approval is a foregone conclusion, right? It's just paperwork at this point. In the meantime, everyone's singular goal is ending this pandemic and squashing COVID as best we can.
Honest question, does something change for you once it's approved because you mention the FDA approval a lot. Will you then get vaccinated? I'm just wondering if it's really about the FDA approval or if it's more that you're just upset that you're being shut out of things because you're not vaccinated.
I will not take something that has “experimental” in front of it.
Ultimately, I would like 2-3 years of data until I consider it. I would like more for my children.
And yes, I’m upset that there is potential that I will not be able to do things. This decision isn’t based off science. I mentioned in another post that cuomo is just making it up as he goes....suddenly everyone’s excelsior pass is valid for a year? We still don’t know if the vaccine is effective for a year. No one is being tested for their antibodies. Also, natural antibodies don’t count....which is ridiculous. All along we have been told to follow the science....but it’s only when it works in their favor. No other state is doing this.
Offering incentives to encourage people to be vaccinated is really not a big deal. It doesn't take away YOUR choice but if a few extra people end up vaccinated then all the better for society as a WHOLE. All of this is about science and ending a global pandemic, it's bizarre to me that anyone would argue otherwise. Our government is charged with protecting the public interest, they haven't been perfect but the overriding goal has always been to get this under control and keep us safe.
The vaccine while technically labeled "experimental" is not made up of components we don't understand. Furthermore, scientists and doctors have been studying coronaviruses for years so it's not like the vaccine came completely out of left field. Again, the vaccine may have risks (maybe) but so does contracting COVID no matter how healthy you think you are. It's simply a matter of what risk you want to take.
Lastly, it's almost been a year since the test groups have been vaccinated and as of now, it seems as though they are still protected. I'm not sure why the length of time is so concerning for you, even if the vaccine lasts just a year and you need another shot like the flu shot, so what? That's still a year of protection from severe COVID symptoms should you get sick and that's way better than nothing.
Are their studies to show how these test subjects have fared?

Lastly, everyone in life has a choice but with that comes consequence. You have a right to not get the vaccine but the you can't continually complain about all of the things you can't do because of that choice. Sorry but you don't get to have your cake and eat it too. We're trying to end a pandemic that crippled the ENTIRE globe, if you have to be inconvenienced for a bit until this is behind us then so be it. Don't like it? Get vaccinated.
Exactly!!!!!!
I'm so tired of the complaining and downplaying of the seriousness of this. Very selfish.
Exactly!!! The continuing chorus of "I don't want to quarantine!", "I don't want to wear a mask!", "I don't want to get the vaccine" is so tiring. "They" want this pandemic to just "go away" but refuse to help be a part of the solution.

Yes democratic states it seems but Coumo wants to take the title of having everyone in his state vaccinated. It is absolute control if more and more things are only for vaccinated people as they get pressure put upon them to do so.
People will sell their soul to the nearest bidder and they know it, it is sad.

Do you see the numbers? We are in a great place and if that is because the vaccine, good. We do need to move on and going maskless now at most places is making things feel more normal.

Apparently you fail to realize that the STATE (ie Cuomo) has absolutely ZERO control over what PRIVATE business decide to do when it comes to vaccine status.

Yes, PRIVATE business owners (just like most others) have political views, I'm sure. But I am also sure they are making business decisions based on what they see as being best for their business. That is their motivation. The decision to only permit those who are vaccinated is a business decision, not a political one

Pretty sure a place like Boardy Barn will have no issue packing out even if they just limit it to those who are vaccinated. I am not vaccinated but I don't hold anything against any business that will not let unvaccinated people in. Its's all about CHOICE. That's what makes AMERICA so GREAT!

I agree. I know for many people the vaccine is "safe" But there are issues out there with the vaccine. A 39 year old British model just died from a massive stroke 2 days after receiving the vaccine. Vaccines can do harm we just don't get that information from the news. Not all bodies are created equal and some react differently to drugs, food ect... so to say that the vaccine is safe is not entirely true. For those that choose to wait should not be punished for their choice.
Should probably clarify that this is the AstraZeneca vaccine, which is currently not approved for use in the USA.
Not saying that people shouldn't be aware of what's going on elsewhere, but let's not add to people's vaccine hesitancy by way of omission.

Are you for real? It's really unbelievable the way you run off at the mouth constantly about the vaccine yet you have ZERO understanding of how research/clinical studies are conducted. Did you think that all of the research participants were given the vaccine last summer and then sent on their merry way to never be spoken to again? They will be followed for YEARS, their experiences throughout the study coupled with how the general public is faring with the vaccine is how doctors and scientists are are able to deem the vaccine safe and effective going forward. This is also is the case with ANY new medicine that comes to market. How can you be afraid of a vaccine when you literally don't even understand it or how it's being studied and researched.
Love of God........ Educate yourself. Please.
HOW RESEARCH STUDIES ARE CONDUCTED

Yup. Selfishness is the reason the honor system doesn't work. Some people have been lying and encouraging their kids to lie this entire time--about having symptoms, needing to be tested, having been exposed, anything that they want to make other people's problems. Issues related to the pandemic are public health issues. If past generations had resisted quarantines and vaccines like this one is, we would still have polio/the need for iron lungs, etc.
I don't care what individual people do when given a choice or how triggered they get around this topic, but when public health experts make certain determinations in real time, as best as they can, like mask or other mandates, I support the efforts to keep us from plunging back into lockdown.

Venues in NY can operate at 100% capacity..
I think my problem is people who are not willing to do one single thing. No mask. No social distancing. No vaccine. They just want to live life as they did pre-COVID and not make one single sacrifice for someone other than themselves. People need to get over themselves. This pandemic has never been about you.

Exactly! They want to b!tch and complain about everything pandemic related but are unwilling to do ANYTHING to be a part of the solution. It's all "me me me" and no thought at all to the GLOBAL nature of this. It's tiring and it's ugly

I lost much respect for a very good friend over this. Wouldn’t mask, wouldn’t social distance, won’t get vaccinated. Her 7yo son got COVID and caused our kid’s class to be quarantined for 2 weeks...then all she did was complain that she had to take off from work for two weeks

You can't actually be serious with this question, right? Please be joking.
Have you any understanding of how scientific research works because this comment is dripping with ignorance. Wow.
Links? Charts? Interviews?

Sounds very similar to those who used to complain about having to wear masks prior to availability of vaccine. People are selfish in nature.
So why haven’t they had to go back into lockdown in TX?

I think my problem is people who are not willing to do one single thing. No mask. No social distancing. No vaccine. They just want to live life as they did pre-COVID and not make one single sacrifice for someone other than themselves. People need to get over themselves. This pandemic has never been about you.
Some have never worn a mask and never got sick. Some have followed every rule and gotten sick. I don’t know one person that did not make sacrifices this past year. You have????

Sigh.....
Just looking for some of these test subjects as they will looked at for years as Hofstra says soooo wouldn’t that mean everyone getting the vaccine right now is a test subject? Covid is only about a year old.

God, yes!!
Is she really asking me to provide her with the raw data for an ongoing clinical trial of which the findings are repeatedly used to drive what we know thus far about the vaccine, its efficacy and safety???
Lord help us with this one.
