Very painful diaper rash
My poor DS has a terrible diaper rash. It's so painful that he screams his head off when I try to change him, and he cries while trying to sit down.
I called my ped he suggested to mix hydrocortisone cream with Triple Paste and to bring him in if it's not gone by Monday.
He doesn't have a rash or anything, it's just red.
Does anyone have other suggestions for relief? I feel so bad for him bc he's so uncomfortable!

you'd have to look it up for proper dilution but i've read that a soak in a tub with diluted witch hazel can help with rash

I'm reading you can just wipe the butt with it. just read into it more bc i'm on the run and can't research it fully now.

My son had the same thing...his butt actually bled when i wipped him
My mom is a nurse and got me Zinc Oxide Ointment, it worked amazing! She got it at a local pharmacy, it literally cleared up within a day

This has happened to us a couple of times. Aquaphor works wonders. It's usually much better in a few hours and gone by the next day.

My son gets them and they are fungal rash I usually get a prescription but in emergency i use lotrim

Also dont use wipes it makes it worse no matter if their sensitive ones or not.
I purchased gauze from the pharmacy and soaked them i water to clean the area.

Baking soda bath. Just pour some in let him sit In it for a while. Works really well
And dd just got over the same thing. Desitin and a&ad did t work but just baby did.

Maalox and then butt paste. DS had a terrible rash that chafed and even bled a little, it was awful. We stopped using wipes for a while and just used wet cotton balls to clean him, and then applied a coat of liquid Maalox twice a day, covered by butt paste. Took about 2 days to clear up. This was what our ped recommended and it worked great!

I agree with baking soda in The bath and as much naked time as you can tolerate.

NO wipes. Switch to cvs dry wipes for a month. Wet with water. Do not wipe pee only poop. We love butt paste, use whatever just nothing that has petroleum. When you bathe don't wash don't there. Dr gave us these instructions when we had a nasty diaper rash and it really helped.

Poor dd experienced this. Other than the suggestions above...make sure ds spends as much time as possible without a diaper on.

The air is whats hurting. My baby was about 2 weeks & we had rash for 14 days. We finally had to bring to dermotolgist to get a cream.

My mom is into all things homeopathic and picked this up for me. I use this whenever kids get diaper rash. It works great!

When my LO had it really bad-we did the following:
Purple desitin
try to air out the area as long as possible-i
would put a towel on my bed and lay down with LO for a good 1/2-1 hour (when I could!!)
only used wipes for poop not pee
changed diapers very frequently

We use Calmoseptine. They sell it at Walgreens, CVS and Walmart. They carry it in the drug stores behind the counter but it doesn't require prescription. It has a numbing agent so it helps with the pain!
I have been using it for 5 years. It's a miracle cream.

This is going to sound crazy and I thought it was when someone told me to try it but I was desperate at the time....
Use A hairdryer on baby's bottom on COOL air.
It really works!

Use wet paper towel to clean. Blow on their butt to dry it, apply a thick layer of Neosporin ointment(per ped), then apply like an inch (no joke) layer of desitin max or balmex (they are thicker) and change evey hour. Both of my girls had it bad and this worked. I think it was from the baby dry diapers.

My son had a terrible rash. At like 8 weeks.. At first the dr thought it was fungal so we used Lotrimin but it turned out to not to be and switched to bacitracin mixed with butt paste...was gone in a day. U have to be careful because certain things make it worse. I would just take him to see the dr. Oh and No wipes they r the worst...wet cotton balls or rinse out sensitive wipes with warm water.

Zinc is the ingredient in the diaper rash cream that helps heal it. If you can, get zinc oxide (white cream) that will help.

Thanks everyone for the responses!!! Just to update I used Lotrim AR mixed with Desitin Extra Strength (purple tube) and it is disappearing!
