Visiting a NB-WWYD??
My SIL had a baby today (yay!) and we want to go see her tomorrow. She lives in Connecticut and Dh, Chloe and I would all take the trip.
Dh brought up to me before that Chloe has had a runny nose/cough for basically the entire fall and the first week or so of winter and he was wondering if it would be a good idea to expose the NB to her, being so germy.
WWYD in this situation??
Thanks!
(PS-I think they would be hurt if we didn't go because DH and my SIL have no parents and their other brother lives in AZ.)

Re: Visiting a NB-WWYD??
I would go, but I would try not to bring Chloe in the room if at all possible, have DH go in to see the baby (washing his hands before), then him come out, you go in (washing your hands before) and so on and so forth.
It doesn't make for a VISIT, but it will probably be better in the long run.
When DS was born, my niece stayed home when my SIL came to visit b/c she was 15 months and always "snotty"

Re: Visiting a NB-WWYD??
I'd leave it up to them--maybe one of you can keep Chloe in another room. My son was in the NICU so we were told not to expose him to any children for 8 weeks, so I would have asked relatives to keep young kids in another room.
Congrats!

I would call the hospital. Many are not allowing children that young to visit at all, so it might not even be an issue.
Otherwise, I think you and hubby should alternate staying in the lobby with Chloe while you visit.

Re: Visiting a NB-WWYD??
i would absolutely not bring your daughter to the hospital being that she's sick. if anything, have your husband wait with her in the car and take turns going in and meeting the baby.
i was beyond upset when someone brought a baby who had a cold to meet my newborn. if i had known beforehand, i wouldn't have let them in at all (it was family)

Re: Visiting a NB-WWYD??
I would go and be very careful about hand washing and keep Chloe away from the newborn directly which really should be easy to do.
ETA: If you are going to the hospital I would just take turns with DH. I guess for some reason I thought you were visiting them at home.

Re: Visiting a NB-WWYD??
Most hospitals aren't allowing children in....
What hospital in CT is she in? I know all the ones around me support the above policy

Re: Visiting a NB-WWYD??
I agree with those who said to take turns visiting them and sitting with your DD in the car. No way would I expose a newborn to a potentially sick/germy toddler. Also, definitely wash your hands before touching the baby. A relative's sick toddler gave my DS his first cold (and he was five months old by then). It was miserable and I was really upset they didn't tell us he was sick before visiting us. We would have opted to not see them.
