Re: Walt Disney World attire & a few other q's
comfy comfy comfy!
I went a few years ago in August and it was so freakin hot!!!! UG.
Maybe 1 dressy outfit if you're going out to eat at a nicer restaurant.
Shoes: sneakers or some comfy walking shoe. I have flip flops made by Crocs and although they are not the prettiest they are by far the most comfy things EVER.
Purse: go for a small backpack....on a ride you can stash it next to you if you are sitting or wear it on your front side as a backpack.
Sunglasses, maybe a hat. And if you're going when it might be warm out....get one of those little mister things with the fan....they have them there for some ridiculous amount of money.
Bring one sweater or hooded sweatshirt in case it's chilly at night when you might be out.
Umbrella in case it rains

Thanks for posting this -- I keep hearing Crocs are super comfy but wasnt sure if they were walking a million miles in Disney comfy. I think I am going to pick up a pair for our next trip.

Fashion at WDW is pretty nonexistant, so definitely don't worry about it.
I only wear capris and shorts there. I didn't bother with skirts because we went to dinner straight from the parks.
Most people wear sneakers. You won't be alone wearing capris and sneakers. You do so much walking there, you really have to take care of your feet. I mainly wore flip flops, but people wear all different kinds of sandels.
For a bag, I bought a lesportsac bag and kept my wallet, cell, sunscreen and sunglasses with me. I like to travel light also. This bag was good because I didn't care if it got wet.
HTH.
I did the same but I got a waterproof bag at one of the local flea markets in Old Towne. I did it to keep our fast track tickets & money & other stuff dry (not just from the water rides, but DANG I got sweaty)
It is pretty informal and the only time I got dressed is when we went to Cinderella's castle for dinner, but it was my choice it was not required.

Re: Walt Disney World attire & a few other q's
I wore cargo shorts, and brought my license, lip balm, and a small travel size container of sunscreen, and a camera..,for me it was easier than worrying about a bag.
I wore reefs all 4 days, and they were fine. Don't worry about fashion though, if you're comfortable in sneakers, then go for it...I can't stand my feet to be sweaty.
I don't tan, I burn, so I tried not to wear tank tops that were too skimpy, a lot of gauze shirts, so they would protect me a little more from the sun.
Bring one-two nice outfits that you can dress up or dress down....
Have a great time!!!
ETA: if you're planning on going to a water park, I can't stress enough, wear a one piece, or a tankini that you know won't fly up on you, and that you won't mind getting pilled/scratched up...the one big water slide at blizzard beach is famous for pulling off bikini tops...it's almost a straight shoot down....they can do a number on your suits, not to mention the amount of chlorine, even if you wash the suit out at the end of the day, walking around in the sun will bleach the suit out. Pick up a cheap one that you don't care about.

I think that a comfy pair of sandals with straps will be fine. It gets so hot that your feel will be sweating with socks and sneakers. Maybe try tevas or reefs.
Everyone else has pretty much summed it up.
Definately bring a sweatshirt if you're staying at the parks late. It gets chilly. I always end up having to buy a fleece while i'm there.

Re: Walt Disney World attire & a few other q's
Yeah...seriously...like everyone else said fashion is out the door at WDW. We just got back and my main conern was comfort. We packed shorts, tank tops and sneakers... I brought a dress for dinner at Narcoossee's, but that's about it. I also am not a purse person, so I just carried a small camera case with my camera and license, money in it. I highly recommend if you're doing a lot of walking, which you will to wear sneakers. There's people wearing sandals, etc., but comfort was important to me.

Re: Walt Disney World attire & a few other q's
Personal preference - fanny pack over backpack. If I am wearing a tank, I hate having the backpack straps on my skin - just personally find it uncomfortable so something to think about.
In my fanny pack - wallet, room key, eye drops, lip stuff, tissues, ponytail thingy, camera, sunglasses, a few bandaids and little travel pack of wipes.
And I'm a sneaker person so it's a no brainer for me, but I would say whatever you are comfortable walking in.
