Re: Was it worth it? Wedding Related
I loved mine; it was perfect for me and my mother bought it for me. It was about $1500. I do see other gowns I love now, and think maybe I should have gone straight instead of tulle ballgown, but when I look at the pics, I remember why I bought it.

I fell in love with 2 dresses, one very inexpensive and one was outrageous (more than 5K). My mom told me to get the one I really wanted, and I ended up with the cheaper one, not because it was cheaper, but because all agreed it was the better choice.

My dress for our small ceremony was $100 and I ended up not liking it that much. My dress for the big ceremony ended up being nearly $1000 after alterations, but I LOVED it. Plus it hid my nearly 8-month preggo belly really well.

Re: Was it worth it? Wedding Related
I LOVED my dress, and it was way cheap. However, I think that if I had found an expensive one that I LOVED, then I would have pulled out all the stops to get some kind of discount, or shopped around to find a similar one....but if I couldn't find one, then I probably would've splurged bc I wouldn't want to regret the dress I wore. However, that being said, I knew what type of dress that I wanted and probably could've found tons more that were very similar to the one I chose (not everyone has as simple taste as I do)

Re: Was it worth it? Wedding Related
I wasn't all about the dress & I spent a lot more than I anticipated. My mom chipped in but I couldn't have her pay for all of it.
I started out with really inexpensive gowns, although beautiful none were the one. I kept looking and eventually moved up in price. Once I put my gown on that was that. I tried on over 100 dresses.
It was worth EVERY penny. I loved my dress, I felt wonderful in it, my DH loved it and I love it in pictures.
I say go for it and save somewhere else. Like flowers
ETS: There were only 2 places on LI carrying the designer of my dress, I went back & forth btw them and got over $500 off. I also wrote the designer herself in hopes of a discount too but no luck. I even priced out someone to replicate it but it would have been much less.

i absolutely LOVED my gown the second i saw it!!!! I KNEW before I even tried it on that it was "the one" - didn't even look at the price tag. after alterations, it came to about $1800 - worth EVERY penny!!! I had it preserved, and Danielle wants to wear it the day SHE gets married!

Re: Was it worth it? Wedding Related
I found my dress and it was around 1600 - more than I wanted to spend. A bride on LIW recommended that I go to netbride, where I found it for 1200 - then I went to RK Bridals with the netbride printout and they beat the price by 5% (their no frills policy). So I ended up saving over $500.
My mom paid for my dress and would have paid 1600 for it - but I didnt want her to spend that much. . . I'd encourage your friend to use netbride and other options to see if she can get her dress for a better price elsewhere.

I liked my dress - didn't love it....but really didn't spend a lot of time trying on gowns, so I went with it. It was well in my budget, and mom paid for it so it was all good.
If i had to do it all over again, I would have looked more to find the perfect dress that complimented me from head to toe.

My dress was on the expensive side (over $2000). My parents were paying for it, and my mother loved it on me. Looking back, I am 100% happy about my decision to get it. It was THE dress for me.

I decided to spend no more than $3k and it turns out that last dress I tried on was over my cap and worth every penny to me! It's such a personal decision.

I love my dress.
I spent more than I planned. I love my dress and my whole dress experience -- working with the designers themselves, avoiding typical bridal salons.
I did not plan to be an "all about the dress" bride, but in retrospect, I guess I am!

My dress was on the expensive side; I loved it when I bought but now I kind of wish that I'd gone with something different. Maybe a Monique or a Reem.

My dress was very expensive and I loved it. My parents bought it for me, thankfully. I always knew I wanted a really great dress, regardless of the price, I was going to make it happen. It's just one thing that I was willing to spend money on.

I tried on a dress that was 2K more than the dress I wound up getting. I really liked it and flirted with the idea of buying it for about 5 minutes. I decided I would not spend that much on a dress and opted for the cheaper one. I loved my dress, and have never regretted my decision.

Re: Was it worth it? Wedding Related
Mine was a knock off of an expensive dress. I didn't know it was a knock off when I bought it- I just fell in LOVE with the dress.
After the wedding I was showing my pictures to a new girl at work and she goes, "Oh my God you have the EXACT same wedding dress as I had. Is it a (forgot the name of the designer)." I told her no. So she brings me a picture of her wedding and it's the EXACT same dress. Difference was - she got the designer dress for $3000 and I paid $850. We couldn't tell our dresses apart.
Bottom line- Nobody would know the difference- except if they looked at the tag!
