Washington DC (with small children) - recommendations, advice?
Anyone done this? We're trying to act more like our pre-child whimsical days and plan a "spur of the moment" trip to DC late October. We're actually going for the Jon Stewart-Stephen Colbert rally on Sat, 10/30.
We got a room near GWU for Fri, 10/29-Sat 10/30. DH just emailed our Rep to try to get us in for a tour of the White House.
Other than that, any recommendations? I lived in DC fleetingly but was 21 and it was for all of 3 mos so my experience wouldn't really be the same now.
TIA

What about the Smithsonian mall area?
There is a carousel on the mall right near the museums. Your DC could also run around on the grass by the
I would try the Air and Space museum, The American History Museum - which is fun to walk around - they have tons of things- like a dumbo ride car from disney, I think they have some interactive exhibits as well and, The Natural History Museum. Those are three museums that are good for all ages. There are plenty of places to eat in the museums as well so you could find plenty to do.
There is the Zoo as well (not on the mall but in DC)- which I haven't been to in years but was a nice one from what I remember.
