Re: Water for powdered formula
You do all realize that once you boil water and it is exposed to air it is no longer sterile, right??
We used filtered water (we have a filter in the basement to filter all the house water).
Healthiest baby I know.

I am neurotic. I use the Brita off the tap, and then I would boil it. I have a special teakettle just for DS water too. I need therapy
my sister boils filtered water too you are not alone

Re: Water for powdered formula
we use brita. it is usually cold so we either warm the bottle once its made or I microwave (gasp) the water before making the bottle. 20 secs in a glass takes the chill out but it is not hot and I only have to wait 20 secs.

Re: Water for powdered formula
I personally don't like bottled water becuase it's always stored for months in a BPA bottle
we just use brita water and it's fine. we've never boiled it (no one told us!) and we've had no problems. Eryk's formula is always served at room temp (not warm)... becuase I'd like to avoid the problem of a toddler only drinking warm milk

We used filtered water from my fridge and the ped said that was fine ...
Ditto! I used bottled water when I was in Mexico even though the place that my parents own at has their own purification system (we drank the water - it was fine, but I didn't want to chance it with K)
I have used the Nursery water occasionally in the past.

Re: Water for powdered formula
i boiled tap water until 3 momths, now i use regular tap water. bottled water is not regulated the same way as tap so i would never use it unless an emergency and i tasted it first. I have drank GASOLINE from bottled water so I learned a lesson there.

Our ped said to use regular tap water, filtered if we wanted to for our own peace of mind.
She warned against bottled water since it doesn't have the fluoride needed for developing teeth.
Do you live on LI? I'm pretty sure tap water on LI doesn't have fluoride.

Leslie, we still boil water for Michael. Whenever he wants his juice watered down, or just some water, it's boiled.
But if we traveled, it was much easier for him to drink out of bottled water.

Re: Water for powdered formula
We ended up using bottled "baby" water first and then switched to regular bottled water. Ben never likes his bottles really cold or we would have used the Brita water.
