That's not a Catholic church either - I'd bet it's Episcopalian or another denomination.
It doesn't look like an Episcopal church to me. The Priest isn't wearing any vestments.

I dont feel I "missed the boat" at all.
I was exaggerating for affect! I wouldn't tell hundreds of marrieds that they should seriously all do this.
I just thought it was a fun video, and I'm glad people could get some enjoyment out of it. It's not the train station Sound of Music dance, but it's the best I could do.

I can't believe a church allowed that! I would be way too embarrassed to do that unless I was falling down drunk! Sad part is they probably did it just to put it on YouTube and be super cool

It was funny.. But I personally would have saved it for the reception.
Totally agree! Personally, I didn't think it was that funny-I thought they all looked kinda silly-but at a reception, it would make a lot of sense. This was totally for shock value.

Re: We all missed the boat. This is the best wedding procession ever.
Loved it!! My eyes welled up looking at how happy everyone was. Everyone in their church seemed to be in to it too - laughing/clapping being happy.
As far as being disrepectful, I doubt they would have attempted to do this, had they not asked for their church's permission. From what I saw, there was a woman presiding over the ceremony, so that tells me they are a more liberal congregation. If the church says ok - then why not?
I think it's awesome that their entire bridal party was in to it too!!!

IMO, I thought it was disrespectful. All churches, regardless of denomination, are places of worship- they are not clubs. Even if this was a fun loving, enthusiastic couple- they should still have respect for other parishioners & the important role that the church plays in their lives.
I agree. Also, I am not realy a fan of spectacles , even at receptions, but hey , it's their party. The church is too much. Even if the clergy was ok with it, any dancing should be done on the way out, not the way in. You don't really have anything to celebrate yet.
I wonder what kind of church that was. The minisiter wasn't wearing any vestments.
Unless there was something inappropriate in the song, I don't think this was disrespectful at all. I truly believe God wants us to have to FUN in this lifetime. There was a lot of love and a lot of positive energy there and nothing about that is direspectful. You don't have to be quiet and stuffy to be respectful. Churches would be fuller if more people realized that.
Would I have done this for my church wedding? No, never. The tone of my wedding was totally different and this just is NOT our style at all. But I got a big laugh and a big smile out of this.
I love seeing people having fun and being silly -- and if that's what they wanted to do on their wedding day, so be it.
I think you said it perfectly, Kara

you're not the only one. honestly, i watched it and thought it looked stupid. brides today will always look for a way to be "different" but this just seemed dumb to me.
i guess as long as they're happy...whatever. but not my cup of tea at all.
yeah it was on Good Morning America this morning. I think it was stupid. But that is just me. Not my wedding.

Re: We all missed the boat. This is the best wedding procession ever.
I think its cute. Would I do it- no but I did what I wanted for my wedding, and as long as their church didnt have a problem with them doing that good for them. They probably spent a ton of money and should be able to do whatever they want to make their day special. They looked like they had a ball and it was obvious the room was full of love which is what matters.

Re: We all missed the boat. This is the best wedding procession ever.
I can't see youtube from work. But I gather they danced down the aisle?
I dunno what church they are from and again I couldn't watch it. so they may not even be christian, But wasn't it kevin Bacon who recited a passage from the bible in the movie "footloose?" And here it is. (im bored, so yes i googled the script.)
''From the oldest of times, people danced for a number of reasons.
They danced in prayer...
or so that their crops would be plentiful...
or so their hunt would be good.
And they danced to stay physically fit...
and show their community spirit.
And they danced to celebrate.''
And that is the dancing we're talking about.
Aren't we told in Psalm ?
''Praise ye the Lord.
Sing unto the Lord a new song.
Let them praise his name in the dance.''
Amen.
And it was King David--
King David, who we read about in Samuel.
And what did David do?
What did David do? What did David do?
''David danced before the Lord with all his might...
leaping and dancing before the Lord.''
Leaping and dancing.
Ecclesiastes assures us...
that there is a time for every purpose under heaven.
A time to laugh...
and a time to weep.
A time to mourn...
and there is a time to dance.
And there was a time for this law, but not anymore.
See, this is our time to dance.
It is our way of celebrating life.
It's the way it was in the beginning.
It's the way it's always been. It's the way it should be now.

Re: We all missed the boat. This is the best wedding procession ever.
I would not have done it personally... However I did like it a lot. Then again I came into my Church to "Canon Rock" by Tran Siberian Orchestra and we left to Journey's "Don't Stop Believin"... everything in between was pretty sacred.
Good for them for enjoying THEIR day!
It is about a union of 2 people and the people there should know what fun loving people they are! I think that GOD would understand LOVE and EXCITMENT. My god is not a tight ***.

Re: We all missed the boat. This is the best wedding procession ever.
I loved it... I was dancing in my seat right along with them.
Would it have been something I would've done... no, but that's bc I can't even get DH on the dancefloor at a wedding. But if a friend asked me to do this, I would do it willingly and would come up with a great routine!!
My favorite part was when the whole entire bridal party walked down the aisl together and then the groom came out of the middle. I thought it was just so touching how his friends, the people closest to him, brought him down the aisle.... LOVED IT!

There is nothing like dancing down the aisle! I loved it and can only imagine the new trend they started.
I don't see it as being inappropriate or disrespectful. The pastor was the first to clap. They probably wrote their own vows too.

I agree, I grew up Episcopal and there is no way that I see a priest allowing that. Episcopals are very similar to Catholics, two of the the major differences are that we don't recognize the pope or say the Hail Mary.

Eh. I guess it's all the rage bc 3 people posted it on FB that I know. I am unimpressed with the dancing itself. If they were really coordinated or something, I'd be more impressed. I just don't get the hoopla over it.
