I spotted a diamond on their site with the same EXACT specs as my e-ring. it's $2000 more than DH paid for it. and mine is GIA. good to know he got such a great deal!
You know how much he paid for your ring?
It's always great to get an awesome deal!!
It's still retail pricing, but it's not as expensive as other retailers. Wholesale pricing (like the Diamond District) will always be better - I love the DD! But the thing with that is, if you care (most people don't care or know enough), there's no way of knowing if it's a conflict diamond or not. of course I know how much he paid lol. he couldn't wait to tell me what a great deal he got but he did wait a until few days after the proposal. "will you marry me? yes, guess how much I paid?!"

my aunt is a jeweler and she doesnt like how the IGI certifies - I'll ask her more in detail, but she told FH to only look at GIA certified diamonds....
The difference is explained below.
I don't work for Costco, although I should...
They have BOTH IGI and GIA certified diamonds, FYI:
Q: I.G.I. vs. G.I.A., What's the difference?
International Gemological Institute (IGI), issues Summation of Appraisal, which is an appraisal of a piece of jewelry suitable for insurance purposes. Gemological Institute of America (GIA), issues Diamond Grading Reports. This is a complete technical description of the diamond as it is loose, prior to being mounted in the setting. GIA does not assign any monetary value to the diamond, just specific measurements and quality grades, identifying that particular diamond vs any other. If a diamond has a Diamond Grading Report from GIA, IGI will reference that report in the appraisal.
Q: Why do some jewelry items have an IGI and GIA PDF (Portable Document Format) file to view and some do not?
Our unique (only one available) jewelry items include a PDF of the actual IGI appraisal. Because we often have multiple inventory of the same item, we do not show individual PDFs, even though the item may include its own IGI appraisal.
Q: Can I get the IGI and/or GIA certification sent to me prior to ordering the item?
Each item is fulfilled from the inventory available at the time the order is pulled for shipment. When the order is pulled for shipment the appropriate IGI and/or GIA certification will be pulled and sent with the item. To ensure our quality is never compromised and our orders are promptly fulfilled, we are not able to hand select or specify diamonds for fulfillment of individual orders.
