Travis gets 3 cups per day. The last one was the hardest to transition to a cup.

I never get the rush with this - IMO the milk at 1 yr old is more important than sippy vs bottle....they won't go to college witih the bottle - I don't see what the big deal is.

Re: what age did you drop all bottles?

We just stopped them cold turkey last week at just before 15 months. It was a war for the first week, this week is MUCH better.

Re: what age did you drop all bottles?

14 months, ped wanted her off all bottles by 15 months and one day out of the blue she started refusing all bottles, i went and bought a couple sippy cups and she drank milk, water and juice from them every since. Im glad i didn't have to wean her.

Re: what age did you drop all bottles?

DS (16 months) still takes 3 bottles a day and will not drink milk from a sippy. Some kids just don't like to give up their bottles. I know that I should go cold turkey some time in the next few months, but I don't want to! He loves his bottle!

All of my kids were just shy of 2 years old......

Im old school and dont see why it's necessary to rush things....

IMO they are still babies and if they want to have a bottle they get a bottle....

At 13 months. It wasn't hard for us though, I honestly think DS preferred using a cup to a bottle, and once he could use them well, he pretty much weaned himself off the bottles.

Re: what age did you drop all bottles?

DD#1- a little over 2 years.

DD#2- 13 months

with the way DD#3 is going i would say before 1 year- she is 7 months and wants most of her formula in the sippy now. she currently gets 2 bottles morning and night, but even those she drinks half and then we put the rest in the sippy and she down's it.

DD #2 - 12 months off all bottles.

Re: what age did you drop all bottles?

As per my Peds suggestion, both of my boys were off the binky and bottle at 1 year. It was actually very easy. I will do the same with my DD. I was told that it could affect their teeth using them for longer than a year. Chat Icon

Re: what age did you drop all bottles?

DS is about 13 months and still on 3 bottles a day - morning, afternoon and right before he goes to bed.

I am on the fence about what to do. DS likes drinking water out of sippys and I think the afternoon bottle would be the easiest to get rid of and would like to try to get rid of it soon, but I also am due with #2 in a few weeks. I'm not sure how transitioning off of bottles and a new baby is going to go Chat Icon

But honestly, I know a lot of kids who are 2 and still on bottles. I'm not really worried.

I definitely plan on tackling it before he is 18 months, but I'm not sure exactly when I will do it.

Re: what age did you drop all bottles?

18 months and still on 2 bottles/day. Ped wasn't too concerned last week at her appointment but said to get her off in the next month or so if possible. Not ready to fight this battle yet but might have to go cold turkey soon... she will only drink milk in her bottle.

Re: what age did you drop all bottles?

At just before 12 months DS was still having 4 bottles a day. We dropped one then had him off the two daytime bottles at a year. He was very ok with the switch to the straw sippys.

We still (almost 18 months) have a bedtime bottle. I feel like I should stop it - but I love it. It's my time to hold him in my lap and cuddle him - otherwise he almost never will sit with me (he holds his bottle though, I just get to hold him.) Selfish on my part Chat Icon and I am thinking I should probably stop it before it becomes impossible. I just love getting to hold him and look at him a while.....Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

For Claire-by 12 months I had her off bottles.

For Owen-yeah, I'm hoping by 18 months. He is 15 months and also gets 3 bottles.

Re: what age did you drop all bottles?

DS still loves his bottles. I am not worried too much on getting rid of his bottles. Eating has been such an issue that the last think on my mind is to fight him on his bottle. I am just glad he is drinking it.

Re: what age did you drop all bottles?

18 mos and still 3 bottles of milk. He drinks water out of a straw sippy no problem.

We go to the Ped in a couple of weeks, and I'm sure they are going to encourage me to get him off the bottle.

As with all things so far with my DS, he transitions well to new things when he's ready. If I'm patient, the changes happen easily. So I'm not forcing it on him just yet. My prediction is that he'll be off bottles by 2.

Re: what age did you drop all bottles?

I figured the older DS gets, the harder it would be to get rid of the bottles. I was trying to have him off by 12 months so I started at 11 months to give him time to adjust and try different sippies... it only took a few days and was easier than I had thought so he's been totally off bottles for about 3 weeks now. He'll be 1 this weekend.
