You're not the first one. I was an L&D nurse for years and I've seen some women whip out their brand new victoria secret lace panties as soom as they delivered. I would always tell them to save that for for their 6wk check up.

Re: What are you wearing when you give birth?
Wear the stylish little hospital gown.. you probably wouldn't want to bring your own home afterward anyway! And some pants you don't care about for afterward too...

Re: What are you wearing when you give birth?
I guess I am alone here, but I would not wear a hospital gown! I wore sweats and an old tank top for both DC. Took off the sweats when it was time to push. Most important thing for me was to feel comfortable doing what I needed to do for labor (moving, walking, etc.) without worrying about my butt hanging out! Good luck!

Re: What are you wearing when you give birth?
I was so freaking hot, sweaty, stinky and miserable that I took my gown off I was there laid out for all the world to see with just a sheet over the top of me, I think It is sheer primal womanlyness that takes over. You won't give a rats asss what you have on. Now I will say that taking the shower after was by far one of the greatest joys I have ever had in MY LIFE. I put on a comfy old pair of jammies and I was so fraking happy. Save some old comfy pj's and wear those after. Bring some peroxide to soak the pants in if they get bloody

I could imagine this being comfy but you never know what the situation would be. Before I got to pushing I had two days of hospital with several vaginal exams. Gown was easier for me.

Re: What are you wearing when you give birth?
For labor and delivery - 100% a hospital gown!
For the hospital stay - I'm bringing old yoga pants, nusing tanks and a light robe I can wear on top for when people visit etc.

Re: What are you wearing when you give birth?
As a BTDT Mom - just wear the gown, and go with the flow! You may have all these plans on getting to the room and showering and changing into super cute pj's that will impress visitors, but trust me, anything can happen! I didn't change into my "lounging pj's" until the next day! And, now that I think about it, I have no idea what happened to my first hospital gown that I put on when I got to the hospital initially! haha Anyhoo, just let the doctors and nurses do their thing and just worry about feeling good and a nice healthy baby!! Good Luck!!

Re: What are you wearing when you give birth?
heheh In that moment, I could care less what I was wearing. Hospital gown was fine. it's going to get all bloody and nasty, so I wouldnt waste your money. JMO
I did bring PJs to change into. Nursing tanks and comfy pants and comfy slippers! I wore that the second day I was there. The first night I just wore another hospital gown.

Yup - i didn't even wear the lounge pants that i had brought with me because i was such a bloody mess for the days i was in the hospital (leaking everywhere, all over pads, bed etc) So despite the best laid plans, just be prepared to wear the hospital gown if you need to
