What Can You Tell Me About College Point, Queens?
Hi,
I have a teaching interview there next week and I am just not too familiar with the area. What are the deomographics there? What background of children should I expect? The school is on 7th avenue, anyone know if it and know the parking situation, etc? Is it residential?
Thanks SOOO much!

I grew up in Whitestone which is nearby. I would guess it is a diverse demographic just based on driving through white, asian, hispanic etc, the school is likely good as it is district 25 which is a top district. Homes are pretty expensive as are rents so parents are likely spending the $$ to have their kids live in an area where the schools are good.

Here is a link to the demographics and crime stats for the 109th Precinct which covers College Point. Depending on where the school is, will dictate how much parking is available.

I grew up on the other side of College Point but lived down the block from PS 129 for a few months. Parking is fine....it is a residential area. I never had trouble finding a parking spot any time of day.

I grew up in cp but went to private school. Now the area is pretty diverse , I think the gradeschools are good.
Homes are very expensive , but there a many rentals now in cp. I think the area is relatively safe. I moved away almost 9 years ago

Its extremely diverse in race. The homes are $$$$ but like PPs said there are renters there too. I would definitely feel safe around there during the day.

I grew up in CP, I'm assuming you're referring to PS129. Homes are expensive and the neighborhood is now very diverse. It's safe and you should find parking on the street as it is residential in that area. I went to private school however the district on paper is good, no 1st hand experience though.
Good Luck!
